Payday 3 has been released to consoles, PC, and Game Pass. Players looking for the high-octane heist action the series is known for have hit a few snags along the way. Servers have been spotty during the initial launch but are sure to be fixed sooner rather than later. Each game in the series has received extensive content updates and fixes throughout the years.
Players may be looking for a way to get their heisting on regardless of server status or dealing with players online. There is not an actual single-player option at the moment, but gamers can still get into a game by themselves. Follow this walkthrough to go on solo crime sprees in Payday 3.
How to Play Solo
Players may be a bit confused as there is currently no single-player option in Payday 3's main menu. Click on the heist option to join a heist and matchmake. Then, choose the heist to tackle.
The briefing screen will explain the goals of the heist and allow players to adjust the matchmaking settings along with the difficulty. There are three different lobby types. They are public, friends only, and invite only. Choose Friends Only or Invite Only to play solo. Click matchmake to confirm the match settings. Do not cancel matchmaking, as the game is looking for a match.
It will still go through the motions of finding a game and take some time to get to the lobby. Once players have reached the lobby, they can adjust their loadout with a five-minute time limit. Bots will take the place of the remaining three characters. After the loadout is sorted, ready up to jump into a single-player game of Payday 3.
Single Player Differences
The game is still heavily balanced for cooperative play between real-life players, so expect heists to be a bit more difficult. The bots will only walk around public areas, so they don't trip any alarms. This means the stealth aspects of a heist are completely up to the player's individual skill.
Gamers will have to shoulder the burden of the initial setup of the objectives. Once the player has put their mask on and gone loud, the bots will join in the ensuing firefight. They will also deploy armor/ammo, and that's about the extent of their abilities. It's not ideal, but there are sure to be many updates in the near future for Payday 3.
