One of the greatest things about RPGs is the immersive world that acts as the setting for the adventure. Players can explore a vast countryside, a multi-layered city, a network of mines and caves, or a variety of other locations. Aside from just the straight hack and slash, adventuring parties also have discoveries to make and puzzles to solve, and often that means discovering hidden locations.

There are a variety of locations like this waiting to be discovered in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Some might appear on the World Map when one of the party members succeeds in a perception check. The main character might talk to an NPC who marks it on your map. It might be connected to a companion quest or a Mythic Path, or the location could be revealed by solving a puzzle or finding a fragment of paper with the pertinent information.

Updated on December 16, 2021, by Kristy Ambrose: RPG games always have an expansive world to explore and discover, and players are still uncovering the mysteries of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous months after the game was released. Many of these obscure places are part of the later Acts or tied to specific Mythic paths or class progression, which means some of these locations won't always appear on the World Map. It's impossible for a single character to find all of them in one play-through. With more updates always coming, it's possible that there are still more hidden locations left for the intrepid adventurers to find. We've added a few more to our list, so make those Perceptions checks are high otherwise the party might walk right past some of them.

13 Midnight Fane

A Split Image Of Tunnels & Trolls And Pathfinder

Mightnight Fane is a place in Act 4 that many players never see because it is only accessible after clearing the Ivory Sanctum and reaching Part 4 of the Mythic Path quests. This reveals the location, but there's more to do before the protagonist can get there.

The adventuring party also has to visit Areelu's Lab, which contains some notes about breaking the demonic seals beneath Drezen that are hiding the entrance. The Midnight Fane is the plane of existence that acts as a bridge between the mortal realm of Golarion and the Midnight Isles. Enter with caution as many of the battles are time-sensitive and players might not be able to return and complete unfinished ones.

12 The Heart of Mystery

pathfinder wotr camp

In case the name isn't too obvious, this location needs to be unlocked elsewhere before it appears on the map. First, one of the characters needs to pass a Nature check and see a location called Conundrum Unsolved just to the south of the main road.

This location contains a cave that resembles an Egyptian tomb. There's a puzzle on the floor, and if you can find the missing tiles and place them in the correct order, not only can you open a secret door and grab some loot, but a ghost will appear and mark the Heart of Mystery on the map. The location isn't accessible until Drezen is retaken.

11 Theifling Hideout

Players might not venture into the basement of Defender's Heart in the first part of the game. If they miss it, the secret Theiflings Hideout remains hidden.

Woljif is currently being held in the prison beneath Defender's Heart for his connection with an unsolved robbery. Get him out and promise to help him clear his name, he'll join the party and reveal where to find his gang's hideout. Revealing this location has a nice domino effect since the next step in this quest reveals the location of the Ancientries and Wonders Shop, which would also remain hidden without doing this quest.

10 Chilly Creek

Sorcerers Wizards Pathfinder split image undead and human

This location is only revealed through a conversation with a specific NPC early in the game. Find Jernaugh in Defender's Heart and he'll mark this location on the map.

After Drezen is retaken, it's possible to visit Cilly Creek and check on how our proud but hopeful Cleric was getting along. This reveals two hidden side quests, Cold Waters and Dark Waves, which should be of particular interest to Hunter or Druid classes but are open to any player.

9 Pitaxian Wine Cellar

pathfinder-2e-rpg dawf/gnome fighter and mage

Have a chat with the Dhampir bartender in Defender's Heart to find out about this old wine cellar. It's accessible via the Tiefling Hideout or the Blackwing Library.

This is a simple location that only consists of a few rooms, but if someone in the party is good with battleaxes it might be worth the visit. There are just a few wights here guarding some loot and it's easy to mow them down and take what they're guarding; the enchanted battleaxes Tempest and Ice Breaker.

8 Martyr Zacharius' Cemetery

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous character with sword

Martyr Zacharius' Cemetery appears on the map only after you talk to Sosiel and take on the quest he offers, Farewell. This quest is time-sensitive and must be completed before Drezen is retaken. Although the name of this place is a reference to the Lich Mythic Path it has nothing to do with the actual Lich, who turn up in the Lost Chapel, or the Mythic quests.

An innocent and somber memorial service for some fellow paladins and clerics that have recently fallen in battle turns into a fight against an army of undead. It's a fun and short distraction from the main storyline, which is a bit oversaturated with demons.

7 Laughing Caves

Pathfinder wrath of the righteous pig fight

Act 5, the Laughing Caves are part of the ongoing Secrets of Creation quest chain that started way back in Act 2 at a place called Heart of Mystery. Visiting this location is totally optional. Unlike some other hidden, obscure, or secret locations, players can successfully finish the whole game and never see them.

This is a network of caves located east of the Cave Citidel. There are various treasures that make the place worth visiting, and it's mandatory to loot the place if the character is continuing with this quest chain. There are some special slabs here that can be used to complete the Heart of Mystery riddle.

6 Ravaged Long House

It's a simple, insignificant ruin, and if one of the party members gets a successful Nature, Knowledge, or Perception roll at the right time, this location will appear next to the road. The Ravaged Long House is rather far afield, far north of the Heart of Mystery, and accessible only by a separate road.

There are some special stone tiles here that are required for a later quest, so even though it doesn't look like an important location, it is in order to find another and even more interesting secret location. There's also a good old-fashioned treasure chest for players that crave more tangible rewards.

5 Dragon Burial Ground

The Dragon Burial Ground in Pathfinder: WotR is another location that only appears on the World Map after a very high Perception check. That means that not all players find the Dragon Burial Ground, at least not the first time the pasty passes by it.

While exploring these ruins, the party finds an archaeologist named Lathimas, and he can reveal that after years of study and searching, he's discovered how to open the Dragon Burial Ground. Spoiler alert, this hidden location is the key to unlocking one of the more obscure advanced classes, the Golden Mythic Dragon Path.

4 Final Veil

Pathfinder Party of Elves

Final Veil is connected to the Heart of Mystery in a variety of ways. This location is filled with ancient Sarkorian ruins and another puzzle that needs solving. There's yet another hidden location that has to be discovered and explored first to get the items required, a place called the Bone Hills.

If it seems like there's a connection between several of the secret locations in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, that's because there is. As characters progress through the story, they'll notice that there seems to be a network of portals in certain locations and they lead to some common areas. There's one in this hidden location that leads to another secret spot known as the Hidden Abode.

3 Hidden Abode

pathfinder wotr city

It's pretty well hidden, too, just like the name implies. It's not just expertise but sheer dedication and force of will that gets a character to the point of even having the correct items to get in here. There are other secret locations that need to be explored first to get some of the items necessary for this one.

While exploring Drezen, the party comes across a Thanatotic Titan's Minor Rune after looting a cultist. Keep an eye out for places in the city where the rune can be placed like keys on certain walls. There are four rune slots scattered throughout the town but the same rune is used to unlock all of them. After fighting through some enemies, the party interrupts a group of cultists and spoils their evil plans.

2 Gravestone Rock

pathfinder wrath of the righteous ramien location

Gravestone Rock is a notable place in local legend because it remained intact despite the Worldwoud erupting almost right next to it. It's only accessible in Act 5 if the player is doing The Weight of My Sword, the resolution of Seelah's companion quest that started in Act 1.

The dropped thread of what happened to the folks involved in The League of the Inspiring Cart gets picked up here. It's revealed what happened to Seela's friends and if the protagonist rescues them, they can be recruited to help save the party.

1 The Enigma

Companions-join-the-Crusade-in-Pathfinder-Wrath-of-the-Righteous

Just like it sounds, this location is hidden behind a puzzle and a portal. Players have to complete a scavenger hunt that includes gathering four masks to even attempt it, and some of them in dangerous or secret locations that also require solving a riddle or defeating clever and dangerous enemies.

This puzzle is one of many interesting riddles found in the Heart of Mystery, which itself is a secret location found by solving a puzzle. There are side-quests that must be completed here in order to continue with the Secrets of Creation quest chain later.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous was released on September 2, 2021, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
