Paradise Killer is an adventure game focused on mystery-solving, similar to the Phoenix Wright series. Players take control of Lady Love Dies, who is summoned to the island of Paradise to try and figure out what went wrong, and why the Council was killed just moments before the most perfect incarnation of Paradise was ended moments before its rebirth.

As a lot of the title revolves around investigation and discovering hints that lead towards the conclusion, many players can end up getting lost within the game itself. As such, there are a few tips and tricks to get started.

7 Remember The Game Doesn't Auto-Save

Paradise Killer - The main character

Unlike most other games, Paradise Killer does not automatically save whenever the player does something like make a choice or move to another room. It is all manual, which a player might not know upon first starting the game. This could cause them to make a mistake and try to go back, only to see there is no backup.

It is a good idea for a player to save as often as they can, to ensure that progress is not lost and that it is easy to go back if they mess up something and need a second try.

6 Starlight Can Ease Gameplay

Paradise Killer - The electronic assistant

In the lore, Starlight is the personal computer assistant of Lady Love Dies. However, within the gameplay, Starlight can be very useful for any player. The computer, once consulted, can give a player a quick background check of the characters they met, information on items collected, a general map of the island, and more.

On top of this, Starlight can also be used to automatically connect the dots between two related pieces of evidence, instead of a player figuring it out themselves. It's a great quality-of-life function for people who want to explore.

5 Interactive Items Will Be Obvious

Paradise Killer - A highball item.

As to be expected, there is a large variety of items for a player to pick up and interact with in Paradise Killer; they can also be used for evidence, or for bringing the player closer to their goal. Luckily, it's not difficult to figure out which items can be interacted with.

The game makes it obvious which items people can pick up. Not only are items set in a different style than the rest of the environment, but they will also make audio cues when a player gets close. There will also be an on-screen prompt to examine them.

4 Butter People Up To Get Info

Paradise Killer - Walking to a pool

The main goal of Paradise Killer is to investigate the world around the player, along with talking to people to get more information. The friendlier people are towards the player, the more likely they are to give away info for the investigation.

There's no shame in picking dialogue choices that appeal more towards the character in question. If a player feeds their ego and makes them feel good, they can pry information from the character, with little - if not zero - consequences towards the rest of gameplay. It's a no-lose situation.

3 Take Shortcuts On The Island

Paradise Killer - Talking to Yuri Night

Luckily, there is no fall damage in Paradise Killer. In other words, a player can jump from an absurdly high height in order to get to someplace on the island to continue their investigation, with no harm to them.

Once a player has explored a large amount of the island, then they can start looking for shortcuts to get around places that don't have any fast-travel waypoints. On top of this, taking shortcuts can also lead to finding more collectibles, or even another piece of evidence that a player brushed over the first time.

2 Use Meditate To See Points Of Interests

Paradise Killer - The Citizen Apartments.

It's easy for a player to get lost in Paradise Killer. The island is rather large, and a player who hasn't looked at the map for a while can end up lost. Luckily, once a player activates the Meditate ability, it can be much easier to see where to go next.

When a player uses Meditate, anything that is a point of interest will be marked with a pink heart. This can be a save point, a collectible, or even the next place that a player has to go to further their investigation. It's a great perk to have.

1 Conserve Blood Crystals

Paradise Killer - A character called Carmelina Silence.

Blood Crystals are, perhaps, the most important resource that a player should watch for in the game. These crystals are essentially used as an in-game currency and can be used to purchase a wide variety of items that any player would need to progress, from information to upgrades for Starlight.

Blood Crystals can be uncommon at first, so it's a good idea to save them up as a player goes along. Upgrades for Starlight are usually going to be the highest priority for purchases made with Blood Crystals, as a player can get info with enough pushing and talking to people, and Starlight upgrades will make gameplay far easier.

Paradise Killer is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.
