Some Costco Members Can Now Grab Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door at $49.99

While many fans won't think twice about paying the full price for such an acclaimed title, that's currently not necessary for those who have a Costco membership, which allows them to grab Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door at $49.99. Even though Costco operates in 14 countries around the world, this particular promotion is only available in the United States. But given how first-party Nintendo games are rather notorious for rarely going on sale, a 17% discount, geographically limited as it may be, is still quite an attractive offer for one such title that has just hit the store shelves.

This exclusive offer only extends to the physical edition of the game, which has proved to be so popular that some Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door pre-orders reportedly ended up getting canceled ahead of the RPG's launch because retailers simply didn't have enough stock to keep up with the early demand. It is currently unclear how long the deal will remain available to Costco members. The company estimates that the game will take between five and seven business days to ship. All orders will be delivered by USPS.

The price of a Costco membership in the U.S. starts at $60 for the Gold Star tier, paid annually. As such, getting it just to take advantage of this Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door deal in order to save $10 isn't worth it. But the retailer does offer similar exclusive gaming promos somewhat frequently. E.g., Costco members were able to get free Nintendo eShop money on two occasions since early 2023. The company also holds similar sales of PlayStation Store gift cards on an annual basis.

Other benefits of a Costco membership include bulk discounts on food and grocery items, as well as same-day Instacart delivery for perishables, which is only available in select areas. Savings on gas are part of the package as well, together with discounts on some clothing lines and various types of home hoods. Members also get lower prices on car rentals and vacation packages available via Costco Travel, among other perks.
