While playing through Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, you will need to level up your HP, BP, and FP to increase your stats and improve your abilities in battle. However, you might have found yourself in a pickle where you leveled up one stat more than the other, and you might want to switch them up.

Luckily, there is a way you can do this, but it can only be found later in the game. You can respec Mario through one location in particular, and we will show you how you can reach it. Here is all the information you will need to respec Mario and his team, such as Ms. Mowz, Admiral Bobbery, and more.

Where to Find Chet Rippo in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

To get started on changing some of your stats in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, you will need to visit Chet Rippo, who can be found in the Rogueport Sewers underneath the town. Keep in mind that you will only be able to visit him once you have completed Chapter 5 of the game, found in Keelhaul Key, and have recruited Admiral Bobbery to your team.

To find Chet, start by heading through the green pipe to the sewers found in the eastern section of Rogueport. When you arrive at the first level, move to your left where you will notice a crack in the wall. Bring out Admiral Bobbery, and throw him near this crack to break it open. In the back, you'll notice a green pipe that you can jump into to arrive in Chet Rippo's room.

How to Respec in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Once you arrive in Chet Rippo's room, you can approach him from the other side of the table to begin the process of changing your stats. He will give you the option to either change yours or your partner's abilities. Then, you will start out by choosing which stat to increase, including:

  • HP (Increase by 5)
  • FP (Increase by 5)
  • BP (Increase by 3)

After you've chosen the stat you wish to increase, you will then need to choose the one you wish to decrease, since this is a process of changing your stats rather than just upgrading them. Once you've made your final decision, Chet Rippo will request that you pay him 39 Coins. If you choose to respec again later in the game, it will still cost the same to complete the process with Chet Rippo. Remember that once you've made the final decision, it cannot be reversed unless you go through the process of changing your stats again with Chet.
