As players explore the seedy town of Rogueport in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, they'll eventually come across the bright, flashy casino known as Pianta Parlor. Located at the western end of town, it's an establishment run by Don Pianta and the Pianta Syndicate, where players can risk their hard-earned coins on various minigames. On first arrival, Mario can trade in his coins for the proprietary currency, piantas, and try his luck at the two spinning match games. However, patrons and employees of the parlor talk about other games that can earn players even more piantas, but only if they happen to have a Member's Card.

How to Get the Member's Card in TTYD

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Mario outside of Pianta Parlor

Several denizens of Rogueport will tell Mario about the secret minigames of Pianta Parlor and the membership requirement, but seemingly none of them know how to get their hands on one. Even after completing a favor for Don Pianta himself in Chapter 3, players may assume there are no more avenues left to check.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Mario Outside the Trouble Center

The only way to earn each of the Member's Cards is for Mario to pay a visit to the Trouble Center and receive them as rewards for his help. Players can find the Trouble Center as shown above in the easternmost area of Rogueport, just past Professor Frankly's lab. If they have yet to venture to this side of town, they'll need to either fight Gus, who is guarding the path, or pay his toll. Gus boasts a healthy 20 HP, so players early in the game should weigh their options carefully before venturing to that side of town.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Mario inside the Trouble Center

Inside the Trouble Center, players can check the bulletin board to find listings from characters requesting help with their troubles. This list grows with more troubles as the game progresses, so players can check for new ones every so often. With each minigame corresponding to a special transformation that Mario unlocks, it makes sense that the tasks won't appear until a period of time after Mario acquires each one. The listings that reward each of the Member's Cards are listed below:

  • "Try to Find Me" - Koopook
    • Reward: Special Card
    • Available after Chapter 1
  • "Help my daddy!" - Pine T. Jr.
    • Reward: Silver Card
    • Available after Chapter 2
  • "Important thing!" - Frankie
    • Reward: Gold Card
    • Available after Chapter 6
  • "I need my magazine." - Toodles
    • Reward: Platinum Card
    • Available after Chapter 6

After completing Chapter 1 of The Thousand-Year Door, players will be able to find a listing called "Try to Find Me" from Koopook on the Trouble Center's bulletin. The hide-and-seek champion is issuing a challenge to anyone confident enough to look for him. In his listing, he offers up a Member's Card for Pianta Parlor for whoever finds him somewhere in Hooktail Castle.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Grand Staircase in Hooktail Castle

Players should return to the castle and make their way up the grand staircase to the tall room just before where Mario met the badge thief, Ms. Mowz, for the first time.

As they take the castle's final green elevator block to the top of that room, they'll notice a Koopa behind a set of iron bars. At the top, players need to walk all the way to the left and drop off the far side of the platform to reach Koopook's hiding spot.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Koopook Special Card

After exchanging words about his love of the game, Koopook will reward Mario with the Special Card, allowing him to access the Plane Game.

A new listing called "Help my daddy!" will appear at the Trouble Center after players complete Chapter 2 of The Thousand-Year Door. Pine T. In exchange for helping, the little Toad offers up one of his dearest treasures: a Member's Card for the Pianta Parlor.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Trouble Center Pit of 100 Trials

After accepting the call of duty, players should make their way to the Pit's entrance within the Rogueport Sewers. Though there is another route via the western end of town, the simplest path is to go to the Thousand-Year Door and enter the door at the far left end of the room.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Pit of 100 Trials Pine T. Jr.

Players can meet the tiny Toad in the entry room, and make their way down into the pit. Mario will have to beat several floors of the Pit of 100 Trials in order to reach Pine T. Sr. below. There are no save blocks or back-tracking, so players will want to prepare themselves accordingly.

Pine T. Sr. can be found on Floor 18 of the Pit of 100 Trials. After returning the Toad to his feet, Mario will have to guide him just two more floors downward in order to reach the exit pipe. Players can continue traversing the pit to grind out more Star Points, and the reunited father and son will be waiting for them whenever they exit.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Pit of 100 Trials, Pine T. Jr. Silver Card

Eternally grateful for his help, the pair will grant Mario the Silver Card that allows him to play the Paper Game in Pianta Parlor.

Trouble Center: Where to Find Frankie's Wedding Ring in TTYD

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Trouble Center Member's Card

Players don't get an opportunity to snag another Member's Card until after they've successfully cleared Chapter 6. Luckily, both troubles that become available on Mario's return to Rogueport are relatively simple. The first listing is simply titled "Important thing!" by the new Pianta Syndicate boss, Frankie.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Trouble Center Frankie's Wedding Ring

Frankie can be found in the garden area in western Rogueport near the fountain. He has lost his wedding ring and is urgently looking to find it. He lets on that it has to be located somewhere in town and sends Mario on his way.

The ring can be found in eastern Rogueport near Merlon's house, where players can rank-up their partners. It has somehow found itself atop the archway Gus used to guard. Players should follow the path across the water and onto the rooftops where they can carefully make their way onto the ring's narrow perch.

Trouble Center: Toodles' Magazine in TTYD

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Trouble Center Member's Card

The final Member's Card can be acquired through a listing from Toodles titled "I need my magazine." following completion of Chapter 6. The insanely wealthy Toad has come upon a sudden urge to read a magazine she has lent out to her friend Jolene.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Trouble Center Toodles' Magazine

The listing asks that Mario should meet Toodles at her house in the recently visited Poshley Heights. If players have unlocked the fast-travel warp pipe room in Rogueport Sewers, the trip to Toodles' home will be a short one.

Back through the warp pipe room, players can quickly hop over to Glitzville to meet up with Jolene in her new office as the Glitz Pit's promoter. Though she's initially hesitant, she relinquishes the Wrestling Magazine she had borrowed for research.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Pianta Parlor Platinum Card Toodles

Doubling back to Poshley Heights yet again, players can return the magazine to Toodles in exchange for the Platinum Card, giving players access to the Boat Game and the highest tier of prizes in Pianta Parlor.
