While the Sakurajima region of Palworld is home to a more peaceful aura, complete with sakura trees and a brisk breeze, not all is as it seems. Despite the many different pals that walk aimlessly around, enjoying their surroundings, Yakumo won't be as friendly. This dog-like neutral pal isn't reckless in its attack but will protect its pack from anything it considers a threat.

Although it has an adorable appearance and may look friendly from a distance, Yakumo is anything but. Typically spotted in groups of three or more as they travel around the area, they will lunge into attack mode if they spot anything too close to their pack. While Yakumo is a neutral-type Pal, it packs a wallop of a punch, and many consider its bite to be far worse than its bark.

Where to Find and Catch Yakumo in Palworld

Yakumo Location

Yakumo in Palworld base

Players will first need to unlock any of the Sakurajima region fast travel waypoints, but the easiest one to access Yakumo is the Moon Flower waypoint. This will require either flying or surfing to the small island, so come prepared with either a Jetragon or a Surfent to access Sakurajima. Once the fast travel point has been unlocked, players can begin to hunt down Yakumo, either during the day or night.

Yakumo is quite common at the center of the region, typically where there are a lot of trees. At times, they can be found separated from their pack, making for an easy catch. Should players run into a tribe of three or more, they will attack immediately on sight and quickly gang up on the player. Though they aren't particularly strong alone, fighting Yakumo in numbers could prove to be too tough for some players.

The Sakurajima region is the only place where Yakumo and other additions to the Paldeck can be found. Some Yakumo are also nocturnal, so there's no chance to catch them off guard while they're sleeping. One good practice is to utilize the crouch feature in Palworld and sneak up on Yakumo from behind. Players can get a boost to their catch rate from a behind-catch attempt and avoid any hostile confrontation.

Yakumo in Palworld location

Yakumo may be tough to fight when they attack as a group, but what makes things exponentially worse is the threat of the ninja assassins looming closeby. Yakumo and the ninja clan tend to clash when they cross paths, and getting caught up in the crosshairs is a sure way to be taken out quickly.

Yakumo Skills & Work Suitability, Explained

Yakumo in Palworld paldeck

Due to a weaker stat spread and neutral typing, Yakumo won't be a pal players reach out to for combat support. Although they appear ferocious when encountered in the wild, the numbers game makes them more dangerous than they really are. Since players should already have some of the strongest neutral-type pals available on their team, Yakumo will serve as an addition to the Paldeck for completionists.

Yakumo's potential for work on the base is also not ideal, as they only come with a Level 2 Gathering work suitability. There isn't much to go on, and there are plenty of other pals available that have the same class of Gathering and many other skills to make for a more well-rounded worker. Once again, Yakumo finds itself taking a backseat to other pals who can do the job better and more efficiently.

While Yakumo's partner skill, Birds of a Feather, allows players to mount and ride Yakumo, the extra incentive is excellent for one purpose. Birds of a Feather will allow the accompanying Yakumo to track down other pals that have the same partner skill, which really means more Yakumo. This should help players earn their 12-pal catch bonus quickly, but the incentive falls off after that.
