A new Palworld mod introduced a minimap to the Pokemon-like survival game. Palworld is still in early access, and despite several gamers asking for a minimap since its release, its developer, Pocket Pair, has not officially introduced this feature yet.

Palworld became a huge hit soon after its release, and it’s currently the second game with the most simultaneous players in Steam’s history. The survival game sold over 19 million units in a few weeks, becoming almost as popular as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Despite the success, the game is still in development, and it’s currently lacking several quality-of-life features.

Palworld Server Costs Are Incredibly Expensive

Palworld developer Pocketpair reveals the eye-watering amount of money that it's currently spending on the game's multiplayer servers.

The new Palworld mod is called Basic Minimap, and it was created by the modder Dekita. With almost 50,000 unique downloads on Nexus Mods at the time of writing, this handy mod essentially inserts a minimap on the corner of the screen. According to its creator, the newest version has features such as being able to position the minimap in several locations on the screen and opting to make it always face north, for example. The creator is still working to improve its stability, though, as some gamers are facing stuttering or other issues while using it.

Ever since Palworld’s release, its community has come up with several useful mods. One of them, for instance, is a mod that helps Palworld players when catching new Pals. Called Pal Info, this tool gives accurate information about Pals before trying to capture them, which may help players save Pal Spheres during their hunts when finding less-than-ideal creatures.

Palworld Already Has Very Controversial Mods

Some other Palworld mods are less about improving the overall experience of playing and more about completely revamping it, though. Perhaps the most controversial example of this was the Pokemon mod for Palworld. This mod changed all of the Pals into official Pokemon and switched generic NPCs for characters like Ash Ketchum and Misty.

As expected, Nintendo sent a cease and desist letter to the mod’s creator soon after the project was made public, and the content was quickly removed. However, the creator surprised the community a few days after that by re-releasing the mod, now as a legally distinctly Pokemon mod for Palworld. The new hilarious mod has an alternative version for creatures like Pikachu, for instance, which is now just a rat with yellow fur. Other examples include a normal-looking sheep replacing Wooloo or a ridiculous potted onion becoming the new Oddish.
