Palworld offers a vast open world for players to explore, and there's a lot of ground to cover when first getting started. Fortunately, one neat trick to get around faster is learning how to slide or power slide. Not only does sliding around look cool, but it also offers some handy benefits depending on how and where you do it.

Sliding is also one of the mechanics the game's tutorial system doesn't teach you, so it's a handy ability to get to know, especially for beginner players looking for tips and tricks. It's also one of the few acrobatic tricks that'll get you around Palworld's various biomes faster.

How To Slide In Palworld

palworld how to slide

To slide in Palworld using an Xbox controller, sprint by pressing the left stick (LS) and then hold the B/crouch button. Instead of crouching, this makes your character drop to the floor and quickly slide along the ground for a few seconds before standing up again. If you tap B/crouch, you'll do a dodge roll instead.

If you're playing Palworld on PC via its default control settings, hold down Shift to sprint and then hold the C key to slide. Sliding on the spot can feel awkward, but sliding down hills opens up a new world of possibilities.

Best Times To Slide In Palworld

Sliding in Palworld is a handy way of getting around the game world faster, especially until you get a mount, a glider, or unlock more Palworld fast travel points. Furthermore, sliding offers other handy benefits, from speed boosts to the ability to dart out of the way in combat.

Power Slide Down Hills For Better Gliding

Using the same sliding controls, you can get a temporary speed boost by sliding down hills, which lets you travel pretty far. This helps you move around the terrain faster if you don't have a glider yet, and sliding in this way doesn't consume stamina. You can also power slide down hills just before opening the glider to get a significant speed boost, letting you glide faster and further, as the video below showcases:

Just be careful of fall damage, as opening the glider does consume stamina and can result in a nasty drop.

Sliding In Combat

While sliding on a flat surface isn't as effective as the hill-induced slide-glide, it can be an alternative evasive maneuver during combat. Instead of dodge-rolling or somersaulting out of the way of Pal attacks, you can slide to safety relatively quickly, depending on the surface. This can make sliding a handy way of avoiding incoming projectiles or charging Pals.
