With over 100 Pals to discover and catch in Palworld, the open-world game has captivated the hearts of many players worldwide. One of the mechanics involves breeding and hatching eggs, which is similar to some Pokemon games. Players can either find or breed eggs and either walk with them, or use an Egg Incubator to expedite the process. Once enough time has passed, these eggs will hatch into a level-one Pal and vary from commonly found Pals to extremely rare ones.

This section of the game makes filling up the Palworld paldeck easier than exploring every region, hoping to find the rare breeds of Pals that roam the area. Eggs come in many colors, based on the Pal's type and rarity. The larger the egg, the more time it may take to hatch, but with great benefits. A longer wait time indicates a better Pal, which makes for a stronger team in the long run.

How to Build an Egg Incubator

PALWORLD-EGG-INCUBATOR-CONSTRUCTION

Before thinking about hatching eggs, the construction of an Egg Incubator is necessary. Luckily, the Egg Incubator unlocks after reaching Player Level 7, but unfortunately, it is one of the Ancient Technology assets. These tools require Ancient Technology points, which require players to defeat bosses at Rayne Syndicate Tower. Taking down Zoe and Grizzbolt, Palworld's first boss, rewards the player with five Ancient Technology points, which is more than enough to unlock the Egg Incubator.

Be sure to prepare for these boss battles, as they are significantly tougher than anything encountered in the wild. Zoe and Grizzbolt are weak to Ground, so bringing a Ground-type Pal like Rushoar or Fuddler, plus equipping the strongest bow available and enough arrows, should be more than enough to take them down.

Once completed, take those Ancient Technology points home and unlock the Egg Incubator tool. It takes two Ancient Technology points, leaving the remaining three points from the Zoe and Grizzbolt battle for later use. Once unlocked, players will need 10 Paldium Fragments, 5 Cloth, and 30 Stone for one Egg Incubator. Players can either build one or craft multiple Egg Incubators to hatch multiple eggs. Like other crafts and builds, find a location for the Egg Incubator, place it down, and finalize the process by hammering it down.

Using the Egg Incubator & Available Eggs

PALWORLD-EGG-INCUBATION-TIME

Once the Egg Incubator is built, the fun truly begins. It's time to bring out all of those eggs that were collected during travels across Palworld, which should have been accumulated over time. Eggs may vary in time spent in the Egg Incubator under a few circumstances: the rarity of the egg and the egg's type. A Frozen Egg, for example, will come with a 100% incubation speed-up time due to the colder atmosphere, whereas a Scorching Egg won't have any increase at all.

There are many types of eggs outside the Common Egg that can be found in every region, and there are three separate levels of rarity.

  • Dark Egg, Large Dark Egg, Huge Dark Egg
  • Dragon Egg, Large Dragon Egg, Huge Dragon Egg
  • Rocky Egg, Large Rocky Egg, Huge Rocky Egg
  • Electric Egg, Large Electric Egg, Huge Electric Egg
  • Scorching Egg, Large Scorching Egg, Huge Scorching Egg
  • Frozen Egg, Large Frozen Egg, Huge Frozen Egg
  • Verdant Egg, Large Verdant Egg, Huge Verdant Egg
  • Damp Egg, Large Damp Egg, Huge Damp Egg

Times will vary depending on the rarity of an egg. A first-grade egg can take between 90 seconds to 3 minutes, while a Huge Egg can take up to a few hours. Another factor is the rarity of the Pal inside the egg, as some of the stronger Pals in the game can take up to 40 hours to hatch. With some luck, that time could be reduced by 100%, bringing that expected time down to 20 hours.

Alternatively, eggs can also be hatched simply by walking with them, but the process takes much longer compared to using an Egg Incubator.

Once an Egg Hatches

PALWORLD-EGG-HATCHING

After the displayed time reaches zero, players can hatch the eggs by pressing and holding "F" on their keyboard. After a few moments, the egg will hatch, prompting a banner to appear with the reveal of the hatched Pal. It will start at level 1 and be sent directly to your Pal computer. This is a good opportunity to check for its stats, skills, and passive traits and decide if it's a Pal worth keeping. Players may also use these Pals to breed with different species to create fusion Pals, but the options are limited.

To do this method, players must purchase a Breeding Farm, place two Pals of opposite genders, add Cake, and wait for the eggs to arrive. The massive structure can be unlocked at Player Level 19, and players will need 100 Wood, 20 Stone, and 50 Fiber to build. Cake can also be created by using 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 eggs, and 2 Honey, and the process requires the Cooking Pot.
