Palworld is an open-world monster catcher game that pits players against several elements, from surviving the cold and hot temperatures, starvation, and over 100 pals with varying power levels. Food, weapons, armor, and pals will go a long way to make it through each day, but maintaining a surplus of gold for future use is a good backup plan. In Palworld, more than one type of currency is currently available.

Thanks to the arrival of the Sakurajima region, a new type of currency called Dog Coins are now available to collect and use in Palworld. Dog Coins are unique items that can only be found in a few different ways, but gathering them will prove more complex than the usual gold. Furthermore, what they can be spent on is also limited, so Palworld players should be selective with what they spend their Dog Coins on.

Where To Find Dog Coins in Palworld

Mimog in Palworld update

There are a few ways for players to collect Dog Coins, but perhaps the quickest way to do so is by finding and either capturing or defeating Mimog. Mimog is the mimic pal, disguising itself as a typical treasure chest found in Palworld. These crafty little pals are the masters of deception, but they won't stick around to fight. Mimog will run away from any sign of confrontation, and they're one of the fastest pals in Palworld.

Another way to earn Dog Coins is to travel to the Sakurajima region and look for any real treasure chests. The chests found in this region have the potential of holding Dog Coins, but treasure chests found anywhere else will not. Players may also target and defeat Syndicate Thugs or members of any crime organization, including the Moonflower genins found in Sakurajima. The drops are not guaranteed, and the risk may outweigh the reward.

If players prefer to play things on the safe side, many piles of junk lie around the regions of Palworld. These heaps of wood and destroying objects can be scavenged for loose items, which may have a few Dog Coins lying around. Players can take a flying mount like Nitewing or Jetragon and fly around the map, locating any scrap piles, which is the easiest and safest way to earn Dog Coins.

What Can You Buy With Dog Coins in Palworld

Medal Merchants in Palworld dog coins

Dog Coins can only be spent one way, requiring players to find one of the Medal Merchants in Palworld. These shop owners can usually be found by the ruins of churches or wherever a Statue of Power can be found. The menacing figure will be standing idle, awaiting their next buyer, and will be more than happy to showcase their inventory. The items found in the Medal Merchant's shop can not be bought anywhere else.

Thankfully, the Medal Merchant doesn't appear to run up his prices, as there are many available items from 50 to 500 coins each. Players can spend their Dog Coins on items like hats, which offer players a different look and additional coverage against certain elements. Alternatively, players can save their Dog Coins for later shopping sprees and use their accumulated wealth on better items that can raise stat points.

For players looking to become big spenders, the item Concentrated All-Purpose Pal Extract runs for 5000 Dog Coins and can be used to raise a pal's rank by one level. For players who have caught one of the extremely powerful Alpha Pals in Palworld, this could be a worthwhile purchase. Some thorough grinding will be required, but players spending hours in Sakurajima should be able to collect enough Dog Coins to clear out a Medal Merchant's shop.
