While players can limit themselves to coal mined in the Palworld mines, creating Charcoal can be a great alternative earlier in the game. Eventually, Charcoal is just as good as its underground version and can be used to make both Gunpowder and Carbon Fiber. Players living near the hot desert biomes can give preference to coal, but if you live in the forest, the choice is obvious.

However, creating even such a simple material as Charcoal will require some preparation and increasing your level to at least 10. In addition, you will have to find and catch a specific Pal and build a Furnace, and we will help you with this.

How To Get Charcoal in Palworld

Charcoal in Palworld

To get Charcoal in Palworld, players need to place two Wood in any Furnace and use a Pal with the Kindling perk as a fire source. Of course, using high-level Blazehowl Noct and Electric Furnace will have the highest Charcoal production rate. However, let's look at this process from a beginner's point of view.

First, players must accumulate some Wood, which should not cause many problems since the starting locations are full of forests. You can collect branches from the ground or cut down trees near the base. But if you strive for automation, upon reaching level 7, you can unlock and create a Logging Site. This structure is not as efficient as just cutting trees with an axe, but you can assign Pals with the Lumbering perk to work in this place, which will allow you to farm Wood automatically.

The next step is to create a Primitive Furnace. You will unlock the recipe for this structure after reaching level 10, and it will require 20 Wood, 50 Stone, and 3 Flame Organs to build. However, upon reaching levels 24 and 44, you can create an Improved Furnace and Electric Furnace, respectively. These structures allow you to significantly speed up the process of creating materials using burning.

Palworld: How to Make an Ore Farm

Throughout the game, you'll always need ore to craft many items and structures, and here we'll show you how to make an Ore farm in Palworld.

However, even after building Furnaces, players need to maintain a high temperature in them, and for this, you will need a Pal with the Kindling perk. For example, you can use Arsox, Blazehowl Noct, or Foxparks, but you should choose the latter first. Foxparks often spawn in coastal areas in low-level locations near the starting area. Finding these fiery foxes won't be difficult, and as a bonus, defeating them will reward you with the Flame Organ needed to create the Furnace.

Finally, all you have to do is approach the Furnace and interact with it. Select the Charcoal recipe and the desired amount of material to create. After this, assign Foxpark to maintain the temperature and wait until all the Wood turns into Charcoal.

How To Use Charcoal in Palworld

Charcoal in Palworld

As we said earlier, Charcoal is an alternative to ordinary coal, so you can use it in the same recipes. For example, Charcoal is required to unlock the Electric Kitchen, Fireplace Set, and Heater. But you can also use this material to create Carbon Fiber or Gunpowder. Basically, you will need a lot of Coal and Charcoal in the late game.
