Palworld's Necromus is a Dark Element Legendary Pal that resembles a Paladius but wields two spear-like arms instead of a lance and shield. Considered the exact opposite of Paladius, Necromus is built from entirely negative emotions, though there appears to be a glimmer of hope in its eyes. Both Necromus and Paladius were once one within but have since split, forming the positive and negative halves of a whole.

Necromus is just as dangerous as its Neutral-type counterpart, and paired together, they make Palworld players shudder in fear at the thought of attempting battle. Thankfully, a proper strategy and team building will aid in taking Necromus down and adding it to the Paldeck.

Where to Find Necromus

Image of the location on the map of Paladius in Palworld

Unfortunately, Necromus isn't a wild encounter players can expect to find, regardless of the time of day. There are currently only two methods for Palworld hopefuls to add Necromus to their Paldeck, and one of them is to take on Necromus as a Level 50 Alpha Boss. Hatching one from a Huge Dark Egg is the easiest way to get Paladius, but for those up to the challenge, the Alpha Boss Paladius can be encountered.

Head over to the Deep Sand Dunes fast travel point and head northwest to find this Alpha Boss. Be cautious with the approach, as Necromus will be paired with Paladius, forcing the player to take both on at the same time. If that wasn't enough, the treacherous desert heat can be a bother, and those temperatures drop at nighttime. For a long battle, here's how to prepare for the cold and the heat:

  • Assault Rifle - For rapid attacks. Aim for the head to get in some extra damage.
  • Rocket Launcher - Causes great damage and stuns Paladius and Necromus for a short period of time.
  • Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor - To survive the cold by two stages once nighttime arrives.
  • Heat Resistant Pal Metal Armor - To survive the heat by two stages during the day.
  • Hyper Shield - Regenerates quickly, giving the player the most coverage on defense.

This setup is equally effective when taking on Paladius, the second half of the Alpha Boss encounter. Players are encouraged to wipe out the Necromus at night first, as Paladius is asleep and won't be involved in the fight. The same can not be said for the other way around, as Necromus does not sleep during the day. Jetragon and Quivern are excellent counters to bring along for the fight.

Bring many Legendary Pal Spheres too, as these will be the only effective Pal Spheres to catch Necromus. Anything less will carry a subpar 1% chance and is not worth the time or materials to create them.

What Is Necromus Good For?

Necromus and Paladius from Palworld

Necromus isn't suited for life at the base, as it carries a Level 2 Lumbering and Mining, similar to Paladius' range. By this point, players should already have several Pals with this work suitability at minimum, and others will outclass Necromus in the gathering of essential supplies.

Necromus carries a helpful partner skill in Dark Knight of the Abyss, which allows players to run across land at a quicker pace compared to sprinting on foot, and Necromus can also double jump. It's not as useful as Paladius' partner skill, which allows for a triple jump, but it runs at higher speeds to balance it out.

To obtain the Necromus Saddle, players must reach Player Level 49 and build a Pal Gear Workbench to craft. Players will need Leather (x100), Ingot (x300), Paldium Fragments (x85), and Refined Ingot (x200) to craft a Necromus Saddle.

Paladius in Necromus

While Paladius proudly boasts the best defense in Palworld, Necromus serves as the sword with the greatest attack stat. It's also balanced out quite evenly with the seventh-best HP and defense stats, providing players with an exceptional attacker that doesn't act as a glass cannon. Here is the list of all the naturally-learned moves Paladius has in its arsenal:

  • Ice Missile: A power of 30 and charge time of 3 seconds; creates ice lances in the air that fly towards enemies
  • Power Shot: A power of 35 and charge time of 4 seconds; charges energy into a focused blast.
  • Power Bomb: A power of 70 and charge time of 15 seconds; charges a massive amount of energy before firing a large destructive ball.
  • Iceberg: A power of 70 and charge time of 15 seconds; summons a sharp ice lance under an enemy.
  • Blizzard Spike: A power of 130 and charge time of 45 seconds; creates a giant lump of ice and hurls it at any enemy. It deals damage to those in the surrounding area upon impact.
  • Pal Blast: A power of 150 and charge time of 55 seconds; charges destructive energy before firing a high-powered beam forward across a wide area.
  • Spear Thrust: A power of 130 and charge time of 45 seconds; Paladius' exclusive skill. Clads itself in holy power before charging forward with its spear. The shield in its other hand protects from attacks during the charge.

Having access to Ice attacks gives Paladius a good counter plan against Dragon-type Pals, though it still remains weak to Dark Pals. Setting up with Power Bomb or Iceberg will give Paladius a great quick attack that recharges every 15 seconds, while any of Blizzard Spike, Pal Blast, or Spear Thrust guarantees Paladius will cause tons of havoc.

Having a good counter to Dark types in the team will be essential to keeping Paladius as healthy and active as possible and ensuring the player remains shielded in tough battles.
