Mining in Palworld is something players should never neglect, whether they are just building their first base, or have been playing for dozens of hours. Mining is the primary source of obtaining stone and ore, which helps build stronger structures, weaponry, and various other items that are important for everyday maintenance. Players can bring a pickaxe into the wild and smash stone and ore, but Pals are best suited for this job.

There are 22 Pals roaming Palworld that have Mining Work Suitability, ranging from Level 1 to Level 4. The higher the level, the faster and more efficient the Pal is at mining and building up a larger inventory of stone and ore. In the early game, it's perfectly reasonable to put the lower-tier Pals to work, but as the map continues to unlock, so too will the number of stronger Pals with better efficiency.

6 Cattiva

The Common Cat

Among all the Lamballs and Chikipi roams the pink cat, Cattiva, completing the trio of the most common Pals found in the opening portion of Palworld. These Neutral-type creatures will flee from confrontation at first glance, but they aren't afraid to pull out their claws and engage once provoked. They can be found in the very first area of exploration.

It's perfectly normal to have a few Cattiva on hand, as they are good beginner Pals for Mining. They also possess a Level 1 Gathering skill, which means they'll gladly transfer the resources they mine themselves. A Level 1 Handiwork and Gathering help round out a versatile Pal that will be replaced later on, but for now, it is an ally that can be of good use.

5 Fuddler

A Master Ore Detector

PALWORLD-FUDDLER-BASE

This little mole rat is exactly where you'd expect to find it in Palworld: inside dungeons. Fuddler roams certain rooms of each dungeon, and can be seen scurrying in groups of three or more. They'll avoid any confrontation but are relatively easy to catch, and spawn frequently enough to reach the ten-catch bonus.

Palworld: How to Give Pals Medicine

Life in Palworld may be unforgiving at times, but there are plenty of ways to keep both player and Pals healthy and safe for the next fight.

Back at the base, Fuddler has Level 1 Mining, Transporting, and Handiwork skills, similar to the set Cattiva has. What separates Fuddler from the pink cat is its Partner Skill ability, Ore Detector. The skill does exactly what the name implies: Fuddler sends a detection wave to proximity in order to search for ore blocks. Once detected, it will run to it and begin hacking away.

4 Dumud

Empty Expression, Fuller Pockets

Palworld - Carrying A Dumud

Don't be fooled by its inflatable-like body and aloof expression. Dumud is a canon when it comes to mining ore and stone. This Pal is located in the northeastern desert of the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant Fast Travel waypoint, and also on Ice Wind Island. Dumud can also be hatched from Rocky Eggs.

Dumud has a Level 2 Mining skill and uses its body to flail away at large blocks of stone and ore. Players can also jump in and assist with mining, providing twice the utility and provisions. On top of being able to transport the materials to storage, Dumud is also capable of watering crops with its Level 1 Watering skill, making it a good entry Pal to help out with the growth of red berries and wheat.

3 Anubis

Ancient Egyptian Mining God

Anubis is possibly one of the most sought-after Pals in Palworld, thanks to its gorgeous aesthetic and reliability on the battlefield. To encounter Anubis, travel to the Winged Tyrant Fast Travel point and head over to the desert located in the northeast area of the Sealed Realm. They're tough to take on, but they'll be worth it in the long run.

Anubis pairs a Level 3 Mining skill with Level 2 Transporting to ensure no clutter is left behind at the base. It also possesses a Level 4 Handiwork skill, which gives players an incredible asset to have when building new structures and tools. Whether players want to build something quickly or farm stone and ore efficiently, Anubis is the best versatile option in the game.

2 Digtoise

Using Super Effective Rapid Spin

When it comes to pure power, Digtoise is one of the best options for mining in Palworld. In addition, it's also the most fun Pal to watch when put to work, as its rapid spin mining ability will have it bulldozing down stone and ore clusters in no time. Players can find Digtoise in the Palpagos Island and the deserts of the Galapagos Islands, but getting there is another problem in itself.

Palworld: Best Pals For Lumbering

Most items in Palworld require wood to craft, and some Pals are better at lumbering. Here is a list of those that are best to use for this job.

Digtoise's Drill Crusher Partner Skill is where it shines. This skill has it continuously spinning in an uncontrollable manner wherever the player goes, colliding into stone and ore blocks and turning them into dust. Its Level 3 Mining skill is the only one it has in its repertoire, but Digtoise is a defensively bulky Pal that can defend players from attacks. Stick it in front of a Stone Pit and let it run wild.

1 Astegon

The Ultimate Stone Gatherer

palworld

Saving the best for last, Astegon is the only creature in Palworld to have a Level 4 Mining skill. This behemoth can be found in the Destroyed Mineshaft and the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary. Taking it on and catching it is a true test of patience and strength, as Astegon is no easy task. It also spawns as a Level 48 field boss, giving players the battle of a lifetime.

Disregarding its Level 1 Handiwork, which players won't need much of, Astegon is the only Pal in the game to have a Level 4 Mining skill and will have ore and stone piling up in little time. It also has the Black Ankylosaur Partner Skill, which allows players to fly around town quickly, and does increased damage to ore when mounted. Players will have fun zipping from region to region while destroying any block in its way.
