Palworld: 9 Worst Active Skills

Not all active skills are built equally in Palworld, and this list covers some of the worst examples that shouldn't be a part of any Pal's arsenal.

Distinguishing the differences between powerful Pals and those that can last longer in battle is extremely important when building up a team of five. While certain powerful allies can land a devastating blow that will leave the enemy stunned, others may have higher defensive stats that can absorb the impact of counterattacks before sending out their own arsenal of moves. A good combination of both will reward players with an easier time taking down some of the most powerful Alpha Bosses in Palworld.

9 Incineram Noct

Incineram's Nocturnal Dark Side

Palworld player using a weapon against an army of Incinerams
  • HP — 95, Ranked 61st
  • Attack — 105, Ranked 27th
  • Defense — 85, Ranked 70th

While there are a few better options for Dark-type attackers in Palworld, Incineram Noct is still viable for players looking to build a single-type team. Incineram Noct is easy to locate, as it can be found roaming the 2nd and 3rd Wildlife Sanctuary islands. To make it to either location, players will need a flying or surfing mount to access them. Ideally, catching one early will prove to be fruitful as its Dark Clawhunter partner skill can aid with taking down targeted enemies. Additionally, Incineram Noct has some viability at the base with Level 2 Handiwork and Transporting, and Level 1 Mining.

The easier way, of course, is to hatch one from a Large Dark Egg. Incineram Noct is one of seven Pals that are available with this egg, which means finding one out in the wild gives the player a one-in-seven chance each time. Incineram Noct has decent attack power with a base of 105 but lacks severely in the HP and Defense categories. It can pair nicely with other Dark-type Pals in a team consisting of the same elemental group, but asking anything more than a few quick jabs before swapping it may risk its health in a drawn-out battle.

8 Kitsun

The Fox That Brings The Heat

Kitsun from Palworld
  • HP — 100, Ranked 41st
  • Attack — 115, Ranked 16th
  • Defense — 100, Ranked 27th

Found exclusively in the snowy mountains just southwest of the desert area, Kitsun's flaming blue mane and predominantly white appearance won't be hard to spot at nighttime. The only other method to obtain this Fire-type Pal is to breed two compatible Pals to receive a Large Scorching Egg. Luckily, players can breed early game Pals such as Penking and Rushoar to make an egg that will hatch a Kitsun, giving them a valuable member of the party.

Kitsun is tremendously versatile at multiple facets in Palworld, as players can mount it to get to different areas at a faster rate, use it in battle, or take advantage of its Level 2 Kindling work suitability. In battle, Kitsun is a formidable attacker who will be a great step up from the starter Fire-type Pals players will encounter early on. It's more of a glass cannon with high attack power but little defense and HP. In a pinch, Kitsun is great to bring out for some firepower but falls behind the pack quickly once it's forced to take a hit.

7 Suzaku

The Fire Storm From The Sky

Palworld - Looking At Suzaku Up Close
  • HP — 120, Ranked 12th
  • Attack — 105, Ranked 27th
  • Defense — 105, Ranked 22nd

Taking an adventure into the desert region of Palworld will open up more of the Paldeck with new Pals of various elements scouring the sandy dunes. If players look up to the skies, they'll see a menacing red figure flying in the sky. Suzaku is a Fire-type pal that will certainly frighten players when they first run into it, as Suzaku attacks upon sight and is relentless with its power and speed. What makes things even more concerning is the fact that it remains in the sky, making it more difficult to engage in battle with.

In Palworld, certain Pals are just downright lethal. These examples are some of the most dangerous of the bunch.

Capturing Suzaku should be a priority when entering the desert area, as it offers great value in many departments. As a flying mount, players can ride Suzaku into the air and attack with its ferocious flames. Suzaku ranks lower than most of the high-powered pals of Palworld, but its higher HP and Defense make it a well-rounded attacker. It also has natural access to excellent Fire moves like Ignis Breath, Flare Storm, and Fire Ball, giving Suzaku three superb options to choose from. When it eventually is replaced, Suzaku's Level 3 Kindling work suitability makes for a great late-game base pal.

6 Shadowbeak

The Strongest Bird In Palworld

Shadowbeak from Palworld
  • HP — 120, Ranked 12th
  • Attack — 120, Ranked 12th
  • Defense — 140, Ranked 2nd

Players will first encounter Shadowbeak as part of the fifth and final Tower Boss battle, as Victor uses this Dark-type pal as his ace. Shadowbeak is a griffin covered in gray feathers and black claws and can intimidate even the strongest of fighters. Players can add this powerful beast by taking a flying or surfing mount over to the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, where it becomes a wild encounter with a low spawn rate. If discovering it in the wild wasn't hard enough, Shadowbeak's 2nd-ranked defensive stat ensures players will be in for a long battle.

Unlike most of the stronger Pals, Shadowbeak isn't designed to be left at the base, as it only comes with a Level 1 Gathering work suitability. As underwhelming as that may be, Shadowbeak is a prime flying mount with one of the best spreads for stats. Shadowbeak draws close to the top ten among all pals in HP and Attack and has the second-best Defense stat. It also has access to an exclusive move, Divine Disaster, which packs a whopping 160 power, giving Shadowbeak three moves that breach the 100-base power total.

5 Jormuntide

Don't Tread Too Far Into The Deep End

Jormuntide
  • HP — 130, Ranked 7th
  • Attack — 120, Ranked 12th
  • Defense — 100, Ranked 27th

The calm waters may not always be so relaxing when Jormuntide awakes from its slumber and rears its head up from the surface. Jormuntide serves as one of Palworld's Alpha Bosses, coming in at level 45 and appearing in two different locations on the map. Players may have an easier time setting up a second base and drawing out as many pals as possible to take it down, as Jormuntide has a staggeringly high HP stat and attack power that could wipe out an army. To make matters worse, it towers in size and makes the player look like an ant in comparison.

Jormuntide has a favorable duo-type in water and dragon, giving it access to some of the strongest moves in the game. Not only does Jormuntide learn its own type of moves in Hydro Burst and Draco Meteor, two elite moves with a 150-base power level, but it also has natural access to Tri-Lightning, an electric-type move with 90 power. Jormuntide is considered one of the best attacking pals in Palworld, and it can also be mounted and surf the waters, with an active skill that prevents stamina depletion.

4 Jetragon

The Dragon Missle Machine

Palworld Jetragon in action
  • HP — 110, Ranked 22nd
  • Attack — 140, Ranked 2nd
  • Defense — 110, Ranked 16th

As a pure Dragon-type, Jetragon may be one of the most sought-after Pals in the entire game. It can be found north of the Beach of Everlasting Summer and serves as a level 50 Alpha Boss. Taking Jetragon on is no joke, as equipment like the Rocket Launcher, Assault Rifle, and Hyper Shield are not just recommended to bring along, they're mandatory. There are many ways to strategically take down Jetragon, whether it's exploiting a cliff glitch that freezes Jetragon from moving or bringing along an arsenal of pals that can bring down its HP over time.

Once caught, players will have one of the best combat and flying mount pals in Palworld. Jetragon is one of the fastest mounts available, and its partner skill, Aerial Missile, allows players to fire a rocket on occasion. Despite its single-type Dragon form, Jetragon gains access to Fire-type moves such as Flare Storm and Fire Ball, giving this powerful beast some versatility. It also learns the exclusive move, Beam Comet, which sends Jetragon hurling into an enemy while firing off beams of energy, which explode on impact.

3 Jormuntide Ingis

The Fire Dragon Born In A Volcano

Palworld player with their Jormuntide Ignis
  • HP — 130, Ranked 7th
  • Attack — 130, Ranked 5th
  • Defense — 100, Ranked 27th

Imagine taking an already-horrifying pal in Jormuntide and casting it into a volcano, only for it to return as Jormuntide Ignis. This is exactly what its Paldeck entry states and nothing will leave a chill running down the spine faster than an even angrier Jormuntide that is on fire. To find Jormuntide Ignis, players will need to travel to the northwest part of the map, ideally from the Ruined Fortress City teleport point, and head over to the No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary. Engaging in combat with Jormuntide Ignis isn't for the faint of heart, as it is one of the most ferocious pals around.

Luckily, Jormuntide Ignis doesn't take a hit too well, so capturing it won't be a problem once players overcome its power. As a Dragon and Fire type, Jormuntide Ignis has access to Fire Ball and Dragon Meteor, giving it a one-two punch that can deal with most pals. Like its water counterpart, Jormuntide Ignis also naturally learns Tri-Lightning and provides base enthusiasts with a Level 4 Kindling work suitability. While it's not the greatest mount among the strongest pals, being able to rely on Jormuntide Ignis on the battlefield and back home at the base is welcomed by all players.

2 Paladius

The Desert Knight In Shining Armor

Necromus and Paladius from Palworld
  • HP — 130, Ranked 7th
  • Attack — 120, Ranked 12th
  • Defense — 145, Ranked 1st

Some say a good offense is a good defense, and if that's the case, Paladius is a top-tier pal for combat. To encounter it, players will need to head northwest after traveling to the Deep Sand Dunes teleport point. Unlike other Alpha Bosses scattered around Palworld, Paladius doesn't come alone, as its Dark-type counterpart, Necromus, will be assisting it in battle. While Paladius is a Neutral-type pal and roams the desert all day and night, Necromus' Dark typing means it is only active during the nighttime. This is perfect for players looking for an advantage, as Paladius will be flying solo during the day.

Paladius is one of the most formidable allies to obtain in Palworld, as it does virtually everything a player needs. Packing the seventh-best HP, 12th-best Attack, and the greatest Defense stat at 145, Paladius is versatile and packs a powerful punch. With Spear Thrust and Pal Blast doing the majority of the damage, Paladius can also mix it up by using naturally learned Ice moves, like Iceberg and Blizzard Strike. Mounting Paladius, players can make good use of its triple jump ability, and it serves well at the base with Level 2 Mining and Lumbering work suitability.

1 Frostallion

The Ice Pegasus God Of Palworld

The player's character in Palworld standing in an Ice Biome with Frostallion present in the background
  • HP — 140, Ranked 3rd
  • Attack — 140, Ranked 2nd
  • Defense — 120, Ranked 7th

As the cream of the crop, Frostallion is easily the most terrifying pal to encounter in all of Palworld. To find it, players must use the Land of Absolute Zero teleport waypoint and head east to the depths of the snowy mountains. Players should gear up with warm armor and plenty of firepower, as surviving Frostallion and the weather conditions will be an ultimate test of patience and perseverance. Capturing the guardian deity of Palpagos Island will require players to bring their best team of five pals and some good fortune, as Frostallion won't go down without a fight.

Once captured, Frostallion brings the best stat spread in all of Palworld and is a respectable flying mount and base worker. Ranking in the top five in both HP and Attack, while holding the seventh-best Defense stat, makes Frostallion a warrior on the battlefield and a pal that will rarely reach the end of its HP. If learning Blizzard Strike and Cryst Breath naturally weren't enough to convince players that Frostallion is the best Ice-type pal in Palworld, its exclusive move, Crystal Wing, will surely wipe away any doubt. Considering it also has a Level 4 Cooling work suitability, Frostallion sits in its rightful spot at the top.
