How to Get the First Rootseeker Medallion

Einar giving the player the first rootseeker medallion after completing the Temple of the Roots

Before you begin to hunt down the Rootseeker Medallions, you must complete the Vault of Waves, Vault of Flames, and Vault of Gales quests. Consequently, Einar will send you a letter asking you to speak with him. This will initiate the Vault of Roots quests. Complete the three overseer station quests and enter the Temple of the Roots to unlock the vault and begin the hunt for medallions.

Head to the Night Sky Temple in Kilima, on the western edge of the map between the Daiya Family Farm and Mirror Fields. Einar, Hekla, and Jina will meet you inside. A brief animation will play out, introducing the four vaults and the shining scepter in the center of the room. The purpose of this scepter has yet to be determined. Interact with the glowing stone device on the far right side to access the bundles. Einar will give you the first Rootseeker Medallion to get you started on completing the Rootseeker's Bundle.

Rootseeker Medallion Locations

After receiving the first Rootseeker Medallion from Einar, you may begin searching for the other five in Bahari Bay. You will need to have space in your inventory and a glider for easy and quick access around the map. You can also choose to use the fast travel features by opening up the map and clicking on the stables around the map. Follow these directions to locate each of the five medallions hidden inside the treasure chests.

Location 1

There is a medallion inside the Pavel Mines, near the pond where you can catch rare and epic fish. Drop down to the rocks on the left side of the pond and travel under the bridge to find and open the treasure chest. Your character might drown. If this happens, you will be reset to the rocks.

Location 2

From the Pavel Mines, travel straight through the tunnels and into the Flooded Fortress for the next treasure chest. It is placed atop a pillar. Go to the left from the mines and climb up some vines to reach the chest. You can snag the chest mid-flight or make your way on top of the pillar.

Near the eastern coast of Bahari Bay, you will find a treasure chest hidden behind a large piece of rubble. You will have to approach the location from the northern side of the map or go through the Ancient Aqueduct to get to this hidden spot.

Location 5

The last location where you can find a Rootseeker Medallion is near The Old Lighthouse. From the Lighthouse Lagoon, you can climb up the cliff side to reach the treasure chest. It is under the wooden staircase north of the lighthouse.

How to Turn in Rootseeker Medallions

Once you have obtained the Rootseeker Medallions, you can turn them in towards the completion of the Rootseeker's Bundle in the Vault of Roots. Return to the Night Sky Temple in Kilima and interact with the Rootseeker stone device on the far right side. You will complete this bundle if you contribute all six medallions to the collection.

Completing this bundle will reward your character with an Emberborn Reed Planter, an object that can be used to decorate your house. For completing all four bundles in the Vault of Roots (including bugs, food, fish, and collectibles), you will receive the rare Ancient Galdur Statue.
