The last transmitter players must set up in Oxenfree 2 is in the ghost town of Garland, all the way on the western edge of the map. Players must climb up to the top of the old town church to set up the transmitter, but there are a few obstacles in the way.

The door to the church is locked, and the entrance to the mine that could lead up to it has collapsed. Thankfully, there's a tear in reality nearby that players can enter, but unlike the other tears in Oxenfree 2, it's not as simple as tuning it open and walking through. Instead, players must figure out how to use the EMF transmitters.

How To Activate The EMF Transmitters

Oxenfree 2 Garland Hank

Players can spot three strange machines throughout Garland, but one of them is broken and all of them are turned off. To fix this, players should follow the wires to the bottom-right corner of the area and enter the Garland Post Office.

Riley and Jacob will be ambushed by a set of cameras when they enter, and after that, a man named Hank will try to contact them through channel 4 of the walkie-talkie. Players can agree to help him or not, but either way, players must turn on the EMF hub on the desk to continue this puzzle. Doing so will turn on the two active EMF transmitters in town.

How To Solve The Garland Puzzle

Oxenfree 2 Garland EMF Numbers

If players enter the Garland tear without touching the EMF transmitters, they'll go back hundreds of years to a time before Garland even existed. Since players want to enter the mine before it collapsed but after miners built it, this is way too far back.

Luckily, the EMF transmitters can adjust the year the tear travels to. Each transmitter can change one number in the destination year: the one close to the tear changes the century, and the one at the top of the ladder changes the decade. The broken transmitter will always stay broken, so don't worry about it. The first digit will always be 1 and the last digit will always be 0, so keep that in mind when adjusting the numbers.

Players can go up to the cemetery at any time to check the tombstones, which remind players that the date of the big mine collapse was 1892 (and don't forget the Adler letter nearby). This means players must set the tear to the year 1890, although an earlier decade like 1880 can also work.

Players can also use the tear to help out Hank, who wants a photo and physical evidence of supernatural activity. To get the photo, players should set the tear to the year 1930, which is the last decade before Garland was fully abandoned. Players can talk to a person in 1930, and Jacob will take a picture of him. To get the physical evidence, players need to solve the ghost child's puzzle in Horseshoe Beach and reenter the cave to collect the shoe.
