Night School Studio is currently owned by the streaming giant Netflix, but despite that association, their latest title, Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, still has a very indie feel to it. The voice acting is top-notch and the visuals are stunning, but the character designs are relatively simple, and the play area is fully two-dimensional.

Other good qualities of Oxenfree 2 include the engrossing story and the impact of player choices, both of which add a lot to the game's replay value. Oxenfree 2 is positioned as a budget game, but players can get a surprising number of gameplay hours from its low price.

How Long Is Oxenfree 2 from Start to Finish?

Oxenfree 2 First Transmitter

The short answer is around 5 to 6 hours. The game features six major areas that each have their own objective, and between the platforming, the puzzles, and the dialogue, each area takes around an hour to complete. The puzzles aren't too hard to figure out, and so even novice adventure game players should be able to get through them without the game grinding to a halt.

Oxenfree 2 also features a set of collectibles that players may want to find. There are 13 collectibles in total, and players may end up adding another 30 minutes to an hour to their play time if they want to track them all down. These collectibles are completely optional and have no impact on any ending. Only players who want the achievements or the story information they provide should bother collecting them.

How Long Does It Take to See Every Ending?

Oxenfree 2has a lot of possible endings. Most are based on what happens to a specific character, and they have two endings depending on what players decide to say or do. Players can see each of these endings by playing through the game twice. Other characters have more possible endings, and players must complete the game eight times to see them all.

Something that makes this difficult is the fact that Oxenfree 2 uses autosaves exclusively, so players can't save before each important choice and restart the game from there. Instead, the only option is to begin the game again and see it through to the end. Because the game has a lot of unskippable dialogue that literally slows the protagonist down, second and subsequent playthroughs take about 4 to 5 hours to complete. This means players will need to spend around 30 hours on Oxenfree 2 if they want to see every possible ending.

Still, even if players aren't interested in collecting every achievement and seeing every ending, it's worth playing through the game at least twice. Oxenfree 2is a good mystery story, and like most mystery stories, players will spot a lot more the second time around.

Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals is available now on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, and Switch.
