Widowmaker is one of the most popular characters in Overwatch. As a lethal sniper, she is an extremely dangerous hero within the game, and her femme fatale design gives her a captivating personality. Since the game launched in 2016, many cosplayers have chosen to recreate Widowmaker, attempting to capture whatever it is that makes her so alluring despite her intimidating lethality.
The most recent cosplayer to try her hand at Widowmaker is Valentina Kyrp, who posted her interpretation of the character to the game's subreddit. The cosplay is impressively accurate, with many commenters on the post claiming that it took them a second to realize that it wasn't a screenshot from the game. Everything about the cosplay's outfit is spot on, from the blue-tinted skin to the metallic headpiece and long ponytail. Kyrp even went the extra step of creating Widowmaker's iconic sniper rifle, which adds a lot to the cosplay as it is also a remarkably accurate recreation. Kryp even confirmed in a comment on the post that the sniper extends just like the model in the game.
The cosplay is receiving a well-earned amount of love from the community, with the post already boasting over 9.5 thousand upvotes just 2 days after being posted. Many comments on the post are labeling the cosplay as one of the best they have ever seen, and with how universally accurate it is, it is hard to disagree. This is not wholly surprising, as Kyrp has a history of very impressive cosplay, including characters like Mortal Kombat's iconic Mileena and Valorant's Jett.
The cosplay is another in a long line of incredible fan content made by Overwatch's dedicated community and is extremely impressive. It will be great to see what other cosplays Kyrp attempts in the future, and there are plenty of different characters that she could do some amazing work with. With the impending launch of Overwatch 2 sometime in the future, it will also be great to see some fresh wind behind the community's sails as they will have entirely new characters as well as redesigned Overwatch originals to inspire more great fan creations in the future.
