Overwatch is full of interesting characters with unique visual styles, and one of the most recognizable heroes of all is undoubtedly Sombra. However, one Overwatch fan has given the hacker a serious makeover that turns her into a different kind of criminal.

This is not the first time that fans have shared a unique skin idea for Sombra, however, as a few custom designs have appeared online over the years. One such design imagined Sombra as an Aztec god, with the character getting a glowing set of armor and a mohawk. Another gave fans a look at Sombra dressed like the Mad Hatter, with the skin giving her a unique dress, small hat, and a clock on her back. The latest concept sticks with the theme of unexpected Sombra designs, as it sees her becoming an outlaw like Cassidy and Ashe.

The design comes from Reddit user and Overwatch fan the_npc_, and it is dubbed Vaquera Sombra. The design sees the damage character donning a purple top, brown belt, and a flashy skirt that boasts a unique flower pattern. She also rocks hoop earrings and a unique braided hairstyle, and while her purple highlights are retained, it is slightly longer than Sombra usually keeps it. Two more details see a cowgirl hat attached to Sombra’s back and some unique boots that fully embrace the skin’s theme. She also has a colorful necklace on that adds a bit to the aesthetic.

However, as is sometimes the case with great Overwatch skin concepts, the redesigned weapon steals the show. Sombra’s machine pistol sports a stylish wooden design on its stock, some colorful wires across its side, and a black magazine. The top of the gun really brings the edit together, though, as it features a saddle - essentially turning the weapon into a racing horse. The purple number 1 in place of a weapon sight fully sells this idea, and if this skin became official, this take on Sombra’s Machine Pistol would instantly be the most unique in the game.

In the comments, fans shared that they liked the skin, but that its cowgirl vibes were less obvious than what is seen with the Overwatch hero Ashe. As it turns out, this was fully intentional, as the_npc_ wanted to differentiate the skin from the game’s other western looks to better embrace Mexican culture. This is understandable, and the result is a skin that looks less cowgirl-like at first glance but ultimately fits well with Sombra’s personality and culture.

With Sombra’s Overwatch 2 rework making her significantly more powerful, she could soon have a lot more fans. If any of those players are as creative as the_npc_, perhaps some more awesome skin concepts for the character will be created.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
