At Blizzcon, Blizzard revealed a brand new support hero for Overwatch, and fan reception to her has been overwhelmingly positive. The new character is a Talon geneticist named Moira O'Deorain, and she packs the ability to siphon life from her enemies, deliver it to her allies, and use her Talon associate's Fade ability to quickly teleport around the map. In short, she's certainly an Overwatch hero to watch out for.

While the Blizzcon 2017 trailer did a great job at showing off the healer mid-combat, Blizzard has also released another video that gives a more thorough look at Moira's backstory. The short story video below details how Moira believed her unconventional research methods were held back by Overwatch, though she evidently found others more accepting of her dramatic practices. Continuing her research on how to alter human DNA, Moira has made massive progress from her advances in genetic alteration, crafting a fine balance between both restoring health and leaching it away.

Interested gamers can take a look at the video below to see how Moira became the character she is today:

The video also sets the record straight on a popular theory about Reaper, whom many fans thought had been turned into his current form by Mercy. As the above video shows, Moira was actually the one who turned him away from his human body, detailing an important part of his backstory that has long since been shrouded in mystery.

Although Blizzard seems to be slowing down with its character reveals, it's clear that the developer still wants to make each new hero feel as essential to the Overwatch universe as the next. By giving her connections to existing Overwatch characters, Blizzard ensures that fans will be able to understand Moira's role right out of the gate.

In any event, Moira's biotic abilities are sure to be a hit on the battlefield. She's currently available to play on the Blizzcon 2017 show floor, but gamers not at the event will need to keep watch for her release date announcement.

Overwatch is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Moira O'Deorain has no release date yet but is expected to arrive in the near future.
