Overwatch is still going strong despite being released over four years ago, and much of the game’s staying power can be traced back to its loyal community. One thing Overwatch fans love doing is making skin concepts for their favorite heroes, and Hanzo is the latest character to get this treatment.

The bow-wielding Damage hero has received a few good skins over the past few years, but he has never gotten the same love as his brother Genji. While it is likely easier to come up with skin concepts for a cyborg ninja than a fully human bowman, Hanzo has needed more legendary outfits for some time. Redditor luke2377 has provided a potential addition to Hanzo’s skin lineup, and it has the older Shimada brother looking rather devilish.

The skin looks a bit like Hanzo’s Dai Tengu skin, which was released as part of this year’s Halloween Terror event, something that would likely prevent an official version from ever being made. Still, luke2377’s design does differ enough from the Dai Tengu outfit to warrant a look, as the player clearly put some thought into the design. Rather than pulling from Japanese mythology, this demonic take on the hero retains much of Hanzo’s normal appearance. The facial features, hair, and beard all look reminiscent of the Hanzo players know and love, everything else about the demonic appearance is different.

Hanzo’s outfit sees armored sections with gold highlights mixed into his traditional robe, and the look works fairly well when placed on top of Hanzo’s red body. The standout feature is undoubtedly the horns on Hanzo’s head, however, as they bring the look together and make the skin stand out far more than it would without them. Luke2377’s design is certainly an interesting one, and like the concept for Woody McCree, it keeps the character’s looking intact despite the theme.

Though Devil Hanzo is a cool concept, the fan design comes about at an interesting time. With Overwatch’s Winter Wonderland event returning to the game soon, most fans are creating concepts like Gingerbread Brigitte as opposed to monstrous incarnations like luke2377's take on Hanzo. This version of the hero would certainly not clash well with the characters taking joy in the Christmas festivities, as Devil Hanzo does not seem like the type to share in the holiday spirit.

Still, luke2377’s skin concept is detailed and interesting, and the fan deserves praise for their creativity. If Blizzard needs ideas for Hanzo skins in Overwatch 2, Devil Hanzo could be a good place to begin looking for inspiration.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
