Overwatch may be a polished game with a limited number of bugs and issues, but it is not without its problems. For example, one issue can see Overwatch characters killed when clipping through walls, and this is exactly what happened to an unlucky Echo user.

In the lead-up to an Overwatch match, attackers will have several seconds before the door opens and the game properly begins. While defenders are strategizing and setting up, attackers will be able to mess around in the starting room. Players can keep themselves entertained by shooting baskets or listening to various heroes sing in Busan. Overwatch's emotes are another fun way to kill some time, though one Echo fan found that it is important to emote in the right place.

The incident took place on the King’s Row map, which is arguably Overwatch’s most beloved location. Captured by Reddit user stormtr00per, a majority of the attacking team can be seen at the exit near the top of the starting room. Clearly planning to fly out instead of using the ground entrance, Mercy, Hanzo, Echo, and Widowmaker only have to wait 10 more seconds to fight from the time the clip begins. However, the Echo player ends up being unable to join their team for the opening attack.

Seen from the Widowmaker’s perspective, the Echo user attempts to use her sitting emote while backed up against the exit point. However, this puts their character model outside the door, with only their legs remaining in the spawn room. As a result, the enemy Widowmaker gets a kill before the match even starts, killing the unlucky Echo that was just trying to take a seat. Hilariously, the Echo’s legs can still be seen between the door as the timer counts down, with her body collapsing once it finally opens.

Unsurprisingly, this clip has done well with the Overwatch community on Reddit, with it bringing in over 5,000 upvotes in the time since it was first posted. Some commenters joked that the attacking team now has a tactical advantage, as they know the defenders have a Widowmaker. The emotions for the players in the match were likely a lot more mixed, though, as the attackers would have lost some time to make a proper push and the defenders may have seen their Widowmaker as a cheater or hacker. Regardless, most viewers of the clip were just stunned that this is a possibility. While a recent glitch allowed for players to get kills from Hollywood’s spawn, this is a different beast entirely.

With stormtr00per commenting that they have seen a reverse kill like this in the past, with a defender clipping through the Eichenwalde attack door. Clearly this clipping issue is present in every map, so gamers should be careful where they use their emotes.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
