Despite releasing in 2016, Overwatch is still considered a popular competitive game. One reason for this continued popularity is its notable cast of characters. Featuring three classes of heroes, Support, Damage, and Tank, the opportunities for players to come up with memorable plays in matches are seemingly endless. Recently, one gamer managed to pull off an insane highlight while playing Mercy, a Support class hero.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as eushyp shared a clip they recorded from a recent game of Overwatch that showcased their survival skills. The highlight began near the bridge section on the Rialto map as the Reddit user played Mercy. While fighting at the choke of the first checkpoint, the enemy team began using Ultimates to try and turn the tide of the battle in their favor.

It was not long before the problems for Mercy started. First, the healer was pulled into the air after being caught in the area of effect for a Gravitic Flux used by the opposing Sigma. After a brief moment, they were slammed back down to the ground, where they were quickly met by a charging Reinhardt. Surprisingly, Mercy managed to survive both of these attacks. However, her traumatic experience was far from over.

After being charged into the side of the bridge, Mercy was caught within the radius of a D.Va bomb that was about to detonate. Just when it seemed all hope was lost for the healer, an unexpected and strangely fortunate turn of events happened. The enemy Reinhardt hit Mercy with his hammer, knocking her off the bridge and onto a boat below. Amazingly, this caused the effects of the D.Va bomb to miss the healer, and allowed her to somehow survive the encounter despite the seemingly unending barrage of attacks. However, what was perhaps even more impressive was that Mercy had managed to heal their teammates throughout the ordeal.

Since eushyp posted this insane highlight on Reddit, numerous members of the Overwatch community have taken notice. With over 8,500 upvotes in only a day, many were amazed that the Mercy player could survive the nonstop attacks. “The game must like u,” Roan-van-Merwijk said. Others commented that they wished they could have the same good fortune as eushyp.

While this Mercy highlight was doubtlessly impressive, it was far from the only noteworthy play made by players. For example, another game recently pulled off a perfectly timed Ultimate while playing Sigma to win a game on Dorado. With the release of Overwatch 2 still unknown, it seems likely that even more highlights from the original Overwatch will be captured by skilled players in the weeks ahead.

Overwatch is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
