Activision Blizzard president Nick van Dyke's LinkedIn profile has leaked the existence of both an Overwatch animated series and a Diablo anime series. Further details on these projects are unavailable at this time, but it should be noted that this is far from the first time that we've heard of these projects.

Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan first expressed interest in an animated series based on the game years ago, and rumors have persisted that such a project has been in the works in some capacity. Nick van Dyke's LinkedIn profile confirms that an Overwatch animated series has been "developed and sold," though it's not clarified who the series has been sold to, whether it be Netflix or another entity entirely.

The Diablo TV series has also leaked before, first rumored to be hitting Netflix back in 2018. Thanks to Nick van Dyke's LinkedIn profile, we now know that the Diablo Netflix series will use an "anime style," meaning it will likely be in line with what fans have seen from the Castlevania adaptation. The Diablo Netflix series is in pre-production and will be released on Netflix at a later date.

As far as other Activision franchises go, Nick van Dyke also mentions putting together a Call of Duty cinematic and television universe. Nick van Dyke notes that funding was secured for the project and that he "oversaw negotiations to secure talent." However, it appears as though this project isn't going to get off the ground any time soon. Reports have indicated that Activision is no longer interested in the Call of Duty movie, instead focusing its attention on the video game franchise.

As for when the Overwatch and Diablo television series may materialize, that remains to be seen. Both franchises have new games in active development, so it's possible that the series will be released around the same time as the game launches to drum up more interest. Alternatively, the series may be released strategically to tide fans over while they wait for the new games to become available.

Most reports indicate that Overwatch 2 is coming in 2020, though Diablo 4's release date is less clear. If we haven't heard anything by the time BlizzCon 2020 rolls around in November, it's likely that more information will come then.
