Every year in December, Overwatch 2 fans can look forward to the Winter Wonderland event, and this year is no exception to the rule. Blizzard has now officially kicked off the first-ever Winter Wonderland event for Overwatch 2, which includes four winter-themed limited-time game modes and the Ice Queen Brigitte skin that players can unlock for free instead of paying for with real money like most of the other skins in the game.To unlock the Ice Queen Brigitte skin during the Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland event, players need to complete challenges that are tied to the four limited-time game modes. The four modes on offer are Mei's Snowball Offensive, which has teams of Meis slinging snowballs at each other; Yeti Hunt, which sees four teams of Meis fight a single rampaging Winston; Freezethaw Elimination, which Blizzard describes as an Overwatch twist on Freeze tag; and finally, Snowball Deathmatch, which is exactly as its name implies.RELATED: Blizzard Hints At Tweaks For Several Overwatch 2 Heroes Including RamattraAnyone interested in playing these game modes and unlocking the Ice Queen Brigitte skin will need to do so between now and January 4 when the event wraps up. Besides the limited-time game modes, Overwatch 2 players will notice that some maps have gotten a Christmas-themed makeover as well.

The controversy over Overwatch 2's paid skins and lack of loot boxes is likely to subside with the Ice Queen Brigitte skin, but it's still nice that the community has a new skin they can earn instead of one they have to buy from the store or get from the Battle Pass. Overwatch 2 players will also be happy to learn that they can also get a free Festive Wreath weapon charm and a 2023 player icon by simply logging into the hero shooter between now and January 4.

Overwatch 2 Twitch drops are continuing for the Winter Wonderland event as well, with players able to get some more cosmetics from that by watching certain Twitch streamers. By watching qualified Overwatch 2 Twitch streams for two hours, players can get the Festive Victory pose for Tank hero D.Va, while four hours will get them D.Va's Sleighing Legendary skin.

The Winter Wonderland event will be the last seasonal event for Overwatch 2 before the new year, but fans shouldn't have to wait too much longer for the next one to roll around. The annual Lunar New Year event typically happens around the end of January, so there should only be a couple of weeks after Winter Wonderland concludes before Overwatch 2 players are ready to jump into the next event.

Overwatch 2 is out now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
