One Overwatch 2 fan created an amazing pixel art image of Widowmaker from the hero shooter. Overwatch 2 is Activision-Blizzard's team-based first-person shooter that has a heavy focus on esports and competitive gaming, and recently, Widowmaker has been a dominant character at high level play.

The character Widowmaker was one of the heroes on the original roster of Overwatch from back in 2016. Since its release, the team-based shooter has taken the competitive multiplayer scene my storm. Overwatch has used a variety of mediums to craft stories around the characters, like short films, comics, and in-game events that featured co-op missions. Overwatch 2 was initially planned to launch with a complete story campaign alongside major changes to the multiplayer, but that story mode would later be pushed back to release Overwatch 2 and its new changes to the multiplayer portion of the game more quickly.

Widowmaker herself is wearing a backless black dress, showing off her signature black widow tattoo. There's also a rotating Overwatch logo in the bottom left corner of the picture that is reminiscent of a retro loading screen.

Other users replied to the post in the comments. One of the users added the image as one of the optional backgrounds in the popular Steam app, Wallpaper Engine. Another user commented that they would love to play a Widowmaker story game with her as the protagonist in a Hitman-style shooter with all of her unique moves and abilities. Several users complimented the artist on the quality of their pixel art.

There were several issues at launch that prevented players from enjoying their experience, and even now there are criticisms from fans of the game about the questionable push for microtransactions, competitive balancing decisions, lack of content, and general issues with the quality of matches in Overwatch 2. Even with all of these issues, Overwatch has crafted a unique world that has captured the hearts of many gamers. The iconic cast of characters continues to be an inspiration for many, and fans are waiting in anticipation for more in-game lore and concrete story content to flesh out those characters in the coming years.
