Blizzard continues to work on Overwatch 2 to make the game more engaging by releasing new content and making frequent adjustments. Overwatch 2 has had its share of problems and criticisms, but the hero shooter community still is active.

Overwatch 2 kicked off Season 4 in April by announcing quite a bit of content, most notably the arrival of the new hero Lifeweaver. The support caused a stir for his playmaking potential in Overwatch 2, and the ability to disrupt allies in the worst possible way. The game also saw the release of a new map, Talantis, the first community-created Overwatch 2 map. Talantis came as part of a limited-time mode where players got to know an underwater Talon base.

Overwatch 2 has launched the new Starwatch: Galactic Rescue event, which will end on May 22. Announced along with Season 4, the community created a lot of anticipation for Starwatch's potential for Overwatch 2. This is Overwatch 2's first PVP/PVE hybrid event where players will choose the Watchers, led by Bonebreaker Doomfist, or the Infinite Empire, led by Galactic Emperor Sigma. With this, two teams will be formed and face each other in a four-point Assault match on the Infinite Galactrius, a ship transformed from the Lunar Colony map.

In addition to the new mode, the Starwatch event has challenges to unlock all-new cosmic cosmetics for free. These include Wrecking Ball's new Asteroid epic skin and 50,000 XP for completing Overwatch 2's Premium Battle Bass, unlocking Sigma's new epic skin. The in-game store will also feature limited-time bundles of Watchers and Infinite Empire. The new Overwatch 2 event also released the free comic Starwatch: An Echo of Hope, telling the story of the Watchers' escape from the Infinite Empire. The event brings a new limited mode to break players' tension with Overwatch 2's problems and offers engaging lore, something Blizzard's game specializes in. Starwatch also includes the chance to get free Overwatch 2 cosmetics, which is always a plus.
