Now, it looks like Overwatch 2 is gearing up for its second major anime collaboration. Overwatch 2 recently revealed the Season 9 trailer, which showcases new skins, systems, and events. However, the very end of the trailer shows a brief scene of Big Earl’s on the Route 66 map. After quickly panning over a set of legs likely belonging to Cassidy, it stops on a jukebox that turns on and plays “Tank!” – the legendary opening of Cowboy Bebop.

Few details are known about this crossover so far, but fans can make a few assumptions based on what information is available. From the teaser, it seems like Cassidy will be the headlining act and will almost certainly get a Spike Spiegel skin. The other main characters from Cowboy Bebop, Jet, Faye, and Edward will also probably get cosmetics. According to fans, Reinhardt, Tracer, and Sombra respectively are top candidates for these theoretical skins, but players will have to wait until an official announcement to see which Overwatch 2 characters get the Cowboy Bebop treatment.

Cowboy Bebop probably won’t be the last anime collaboration in Overwatch 2. Several of the game’s developers have expressed their appreciation for anime and manga and have even mentioned how much they would love to crossover with shows like Dragon Ball Z or Naruto. While there is no guarantee these collaborations will ever happen, the upcoming Cowboy Bebop event is a good sign for future anime crossovers in Overwatch 2.

Season 9 itself is looking like it will be one of the most important yet. In addition to an eldritch horror Battle Pass featuring a Mythic Moira skin, Overwatch 2 is also revamping its competitive system from the ground up. Players can also expect balance updates for many of their favorite heroes as well. The Overwatch 2 Season 9 patch notes were supposedly leaked just over a week before the announcement, but fans won’t have to wait long to see the real ones, as Champions is set to begin on February 13.
