With Season 8 right around the corner, Overwatch 2 has revealed the Mythic skin for its Omnic Tank Orisa. Overwatch 2 is currently winding down its Halloween-themed seventh season, which brought the new Samoa control map, reworks for Sombra and Roadhog, and the LE SSERAFIM limited-time event.

Now that Season 7 is in its home stretch, players are beginning to look toward what's next for Overwatch 2. The game's eighth season is set to go live on December 5 and will bring the newest Samoan Tank hero Mauga into the fold. The dual chaingun-hauling hero was available to all players for a short trial period during BlizzCon 2023, allowing Blizzard to make some key survivability adjustments to the Tank ahead of his debut next week. Season 8 will also introduce a new control-based game mode called Clash, along with its dedicated map Hanaoka, which uses elements from Overwatch 1's discontinued assault map Hanamura.

How the Roadhog Rework Compares to Overwatch 2's Other Tanks

Following Roadhog's rework in Overwatch 2, the tank hero has seen some improvements in its meta standing, while other tanks have dipped in viability.

Now, a week ahead of Season 8's launch, Overwatch 2 has taken to Twitter to confirm the new season's Mythic skin that will sit at tier 80 on the battle pass: Grand Beast Orisa. The short clip showed Orisa humorously booping Mauga out of frame to show off her new look. The stylish Mythic has four different colorways, with players being able to swap between the base gray, dark purple, icy blue, and magma red. Additionally, like some of Overwatch 2's previous mythic skins, Orisa's will feature unique sound effects and visuals for her abilities.

Fans seem to be underwhelmed with Orisa's Season 8 Mythic skin, as under the Tweet many are making comparisons to Orisa's Beetle skin, which features a similar sort of horn on the top of her head with similar colors. That said, having the option of four colors, including purple and red, may rectify the similarity to the Beetle skin. It'll be interesting to see whether the rest of the Season 8 battle pass will feature some Winter-themed skins following Season 7's Halloween-inspired cosmetics. Overwatch 2's annual Winter Wonderland event should be making its return next month, so a matching battle pass theme would be fitting.

Now that Season 8 is just a week away, it shouldn't be long until Blizzard lays out the contents of the entire season and what else fans can expect alongside Mauga and Overwatch 2's new Clash mode. The arrival of Mauga, along with the new mode and battle pass, will surely inject some juice into the Overwatch 2 community as the Winter Wonderland event is also expected to kick off next month.
