  • Overwatch 2 Season 10 delayed to April 16, providing players extra time to complete Season 9 Battle Pass.
  • New hero Venture, 40th playable hero, and Wrecking Ball rework coming in Season 10 update.
  • Players can enjoy extra time to earn Battle Pass rewards and participate in in-game events while waiting for Season 10.

Overwatch 2 has seemingly delayed the start of Season 10 from April 7 to April 16. Though it did not have a concrete release date before, it seems like players will have to wait an extra week to try out Venture, the 40th hero in Overwatch 2.

Season 9 of Overwatch 2 just released a big midseason patch roughly a month after the update's launch, indicating it was about halfway through its life cycle. With each season of Overwatch 2 being around eight weeks long, the in-game Battle Pass timer had listed the end of Season 9 to be on April 6, meaning Season 10 would begin the next day on April 7.

Overwatch 2 Offering Another Shop Skin Via Twitch Drops

Overwatch 2 begins a new Twitch Drop campaign to celebrate its mid-Season 9 patch, but the reward is another skin bundle some players already bought.

However, it appears as if Overwatch 2 has quietly bumped back the projected start date of Season 10 by a week. As of a recent update, the Season 9 Battle Pass interface now indicates players have an additional seven days to complete it. Unless it is delayed further, it now seems like Season 10 of Overwatch 2 will begin on April 16, rather than April 7.

Overwatch 2 Season 10 Release Pushed Back One Week

  • The in-game interface now shows Overwatch 2 Season 9 ending on April 15, one week after the previous April 6 date.

The original April 7 release date for Overwatch 2 Season 10 was not an official one, but rather one derived from the in-game interface. Until Overwatch 2 reveals a concrete launch date as it has done in previous seasons, it is possible Season 10 could be delayed further, though it certainly won’t arrive earlier than April 16 now.

The 10th season of Overwatch 2 is adding Venture, the first DPS hero since Sojourn. The subterranean explorer is the 40th playable hero in Overwatch 2, the first of three planned for 2024, and the game's first nonbinary character. Were they not exciting enough, Overwatch 2 also confirmed Wrecking Ball was getting a small rework in Season 10, so fans will have two new hero kits to experiment with when the update arrives.

On the bright side, the delay of Season 10 means players have an extra week to work on their Battle Pass for Season 9. Fans can collect all sorts of eldritch horror-themed cosmetics, with the Mythic Ancient Caller Moira skin awaiting Overwatch 2 players who purchase the premium upgrade. In-game events for the Hero Mastery: Gauntlet game mode, as well as the Overwatch 2 collaboration with Cowboy Bebop, are currently ongoing, each of which offers tons of ways to earn Battle Pass experience. These challenges should give fans plenty to do over the next month as they wait for Season 10.
