One Overwatch 2 player has found an interesting detail in Ramattra's idle animation and pointed it out to other fans online. Ramattra is the newest playable character in Overwatch 2, Blizzard's free to play sequel to the original Overwatch which released back in 2016.

The original Overwatch was a massive success. The multiplayer-only franchise launched with a focus on competitive gaming and a multimedia marketing strategy for the official Overwatch pro gaming league, the Overwatch League. While Overwatch 2 is primarily a multiplayer game, it will be getting PvE content next year, and there are still special events that cover lore for the series as well as officially released short films that describe major plot points and origins for heroes.

Originally, Overwatch 2 was scheduled to have a story mode at launch, but later Blizzard decided to cut that story mode for the initial release to deliver the updates it wanted to make to the multiplayer experience sooner rather than later. In the Overwatch 2 universe, Ramattra is an omnic, which is an intelligent type of robot that is rather common across the globe in the world of Overwatch. One Reddit user noticed that Ramattra has a strangely human trait that seems to contradict their omnic background and went online to share their findings. In a clip posted to Reddit, Ramattra's idle animation appears as if the omnic tank hero were breathing in an out.

Users in the comments debated about the explanation of the animation. Most commenters joked that the original poster had misinterpreted Ramattra to be breathing but that it was actually a motor or cooling system instead. One user decided to dive into the lore a bit and pointed out how this could have been included on purpose as commentary about the blurred lines between humans and omnics. This user supports their statement by pointing out that other Overwatch 2 heroes like Sojourn are more willing to make their body mostly robotic and that it would be reasonable to believe that omnics would take aspects of human biology to add into their robot bodies as well.

It is certainly an interesting theory that fits the narrative based on the little bits of story Blizzard has provided for Overwatch 2 so far. Fans are currently anticipating the addition of PvE content to Overwatch 2 that could give more concrete answers to the questions fans have about the characters and how they behave in their universe. However, Activision-Blizzard is facing several criticisms about Overwatch 2 and the current state of its multiplayer, so it is possible that fans may have longer to wait before experiencing any single player content.

Overwatch 2 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
