Blizzard recently launched a new limited time free for all event called Battle for Olympus, but after a few days, many in the community have started to express their disappointment with the end result. As a live service title, Overwatch 2 continues to evolve nearly on a monthly basis. Since moving to the free to play format, Blizzard has placed a greater emphasis on seasons, battle passes, and rotating events such as the Winter Wonderland or Junkenstein's Revenge to keep players logging back in.

The most recent LTM game mode is Blizzard's take on the Greek Pantheon with the Battle for Olympus. From January 5-19, eight players can take part in a free for all using a set roster of Overwatch characters that have been turned into Greek gods, goddesses, and creatures. Each character, such as Junker Queen, Reinhardt, Ramattra and the others have new powers and abilities to provide a different spin on traditional gameplay as well.

However, it seems that many in the Overwatch 2 community feels as though Battle for Olympus is a bit of a let-down, with some, like OpusTex, calling it possibly the worst even in the franchise's history. Part of the issue is with the lackluster Challenge rewards, with the ultimate prize being Winged Victory Mercy skin, which many players already own. However, most players have found the mode unplayable due to Roadhog continuing to dominate without any counter characters to stop him like Orisa or Ana.

It seems as though OpusTex is not alone in these opinions as the Reddit thread continues to be a popular spot for others to sound off as well. Many responded to the thread with their own disappointments including the fact that Free for All doesn't work well in Overwatch 2, especially when 1 or 2 heroes are clear and away the best picks from the available roster. Others have called the mode boring and unbalanced, with challenges that really push the idea of grinding with each character needing 300 kills in exchange for paltry rewards.

While Overwatch 2 has certainly seen some bright spots in the few months that it has been available, the game has also had its fair share of controversy and difficulties as well. Outside of the horrific launch, the microtransaction store prices in Overwatch 2 have also left fans upset, with some even calling for a return to loot boxes. Balancing is also a constant issue for many, with the community continuing to call for nerfs to Roadhog and Widowmaker, while recent changes to Moira have also proven controversial as well.

Overwatch 2 is available in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
