Overwatch 2 signed a collaboration with One Punch Man, revealing a series of cosmetics available for a limited time based on the popular anime series. This collection is the first major collaboration between Overwatch 2 and another universe, opening the way for more themed collections in the future.

The collaboration between Overwatch 2 and One Punch Man was announced last week, with Blizzard teasing the imminent announcement of various cosmetic elements inspired by Saitama and his friends. While Overwatch 2 heroes regularly receive new skins to change their appearance in the game, this is the first major collaboration for the Overwatch universe.

In a series of tweets, Blizzard revealed the One Punch Man skins coming to Overwatch 2 and the exclusive rewards available throughout this collaboration. Overwatch 2 players can complete various challenges to unlock a free Legendary skin for Soldier: 76 turning him into the Mumen Rider from One Punch Man. Three other Legendary cosmetic elements join the in-game shop, with Doomfist as the One Punch Man himself, Genji as Genos, and Kiriko as Terrible Tornado. These Overwatch 2 skins based on One Punch Man characters are available from March 7 through the end of this collaboration on April 6.

The Overwatch 2 x One Punch Man collaboration brings a variety of new challenges to Blizzard’s FPS, allowing players to unlock six different free rewards by playing either Unranked, Competitive, or Arcade games. While the first rewards are quite discrete, such as a themed Weapon Charm, completing the entire challenge unlocks Soldier: 76’s Legendary Mumen Rider skin with a specific Victory Pose and Highlight Intro.

Here are all the free rewards Overwatch 2 players can unlock throughout the collaboration with One Punch Man:

  • 4 games played: Saitama’s Fist Weapon Charm
  • 8 games played: Mumen Rider Name Card
  • 12 games played: Cyclist of Justice Victory Pose for Soldier: 76
  • 16 games played: Justice Crash Highlight Intro for Soldier: 76
  • 20 games played: Boros Weapon Charm
  • 24 games played: Legendary Mumen Rider Soldier: 76 skin

As Overwatch 2 does not feature loot boxes for players to randomly receive new in-game rewards, players will need to unlock the One Punch Man cosmetic elements either by completing challenges or purchasing them from the in-game shop. Players had mixed feelings about Soldier: 76’s Mumen Rider appearance being the only free Legendary skin based on One Punch Man, as they deemed it the worst one of the four unveiled by Blizzard. Some players found the skins disappointing compared to the ones featured in Fortnite, while others wished for a new game mode to highlight this collaboration between Overwatch 2 and One Punch Man.

Unlike crossovers in games like Fortnite where heroes from another franchise join this in-game universe, Overwatch 2 art director Dion Rogers stated that the heroes from Blizzard’s FPS are aware of the existence of the One Punch Man series and decide to dress up as the main characters from this anime. This creates some funny lore for some of the Overwatch 2 heroes as Doomfist is seemingly a fan of Saitama, all while protecting the Overwatch universe by not introducing new characters that may not be fit for its futuristic story.

Overwatch 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
