New information about Overwatch 2's collaboration with One Punch Man has been released, and Genji will get a new skin as part of the crossover. This is the first official collaboration for Overwatch 2, which is bringing to players a series of cosmetics based on the popular anime and manga franchise.

Overwatch 2 is in Season 3 which began in February and has as one of the highlights the release of the new Antarctic Peninsula control map. A battle pass with new rewards is also available and includes a new mythical skin for Kiriko that turns her into the goddess Amaterasu. Another much-talked-about moment of Season 3 was Valentine's event. Overwatch 2 launched a dating sim where players could romance Mercy or Genji with the help of Hanzo as cupid. The older Shimada brother also had the cupid look released as a free skin.

Now Overwatch 2 brings players the crossover with One Punch Man that will give Genji a legendary skin turning him into Genos. One Punch Man is a satire on the world of superheroes where Saitama is so powerful that he becomes bored with being a hero. On his journey, Saitama is joined by Genos, a powerful cyborg with a strong sense of justice who becomes his disciple. Genos is among the fastest One Punch Man characters, which makes Genji with his ninja skills a very suitable choice for the skin.

In an interview with the PlayStation Blog, Overwatch 2 Associate Director Aimee Dennet revealed that the similarities between Genji and Genos' tragic stories served as inspiration for the skin's creation. Other aspects cited by Dennet include the fact that both characters were saved from death by being transformed into cyborgs and the strong relationship with their mentors. In addition to Genos' skin for Genji, the crossover between Overwatch 2 and One Punch Man turned Kiriko into the rank-S heroine Tatsumaki, the Terrible Tornado. Saitama's skin had the only possible fate, turning Doomfist into the One Punch Man protagonist.

The collaboration with One Punch Man is already creating debate among players about the next Overwatch 2 anime skins they would like to see released. This proves that Blizzard is interested in keeping players engaged and interested with the release of frequent content, be it skins or events. It remains to be seen if the crossover will prove successful, although the chances are great considering how popular One Punch Man is.

Overwatch 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
