Overwatch 2 just confirmed it would be revealing its new hero at BlizzCon 2023. This means players can expect to meet the new Overwatch 2 tank hero coming in Season 8 on November 3.

Besides the three heroes it launched alongside the game’s release last year, Overwatch 2 has added a new hero every other season, giving players a new character to play with every four months. Tank hero Ramattra released in Season 2, and support heroes Lifeweaver and Illari came out in Overwatch 2 Season 4 and 6 respectively. By this schedule, the next hero, confirmed to be a tank, will likely release in Season 8.

Now, Blizzard has confirmed when players can expect to learn who this new Overwatch 2 hero is. In an announcement for the final wave of tickets for the BlizzCon, Blizzard revealed an image showing off some of the events that will occur during the convention. Among the plethora of activities, fans noticed one of the boxes simply said “Meet the New Hero,” with the tank role logo next to it, confirming Overwatch 2 will be revealing said character at BlizzCon.

There are a lot of possibilities for whom the next Overwatch 2 hero could be. Yuna–one of D.Va’s fellow MEKA pilots who uses a sword and shield-wielding mech–is one of the more popular potential heroes. However, Mauga, the towering former partner to Baptiste, is currently the top guess for many players. The announcement box also features bullet holes in the background, which could be another hint for Mauga, considering he uses a large assault weapon of some kind.

Were that not exciting enough, the Overwatch World Cup will take place during the convention as well. Teams of the most skilled players will test their mettle against one another to crown the first champions of the Overwatch 2 era.

Outside Overwatch 2, plenty of other exciting things will take place at BlizzCon. Now that Chris Metzen is back as the creative director of Warcraft, WoW is planning to reveal new things for both Classic and retail. Warcraft Rumble will feature exhibition matches, with a full launch likely to follow or coincide with the convention. Hearthstone will hold a Duel-a-Dev contest and a new demo, and Diablo 4 will have tons of art exhibits and immersive experiences. Everything from the BlizzCon Arena will be livestreamed to the worldwide audience, so players who can’t make it to the convention won’t have to worry about missing out on any of the big reveals.

Overwatch 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
