Blizzard's Aaron Keller has teased Overwatch 2 fans with more details about the new hero coming to the game in Season 6, as well as what the new Flashpoint game mode will have to offer. Overwatch 2 is currently in the midst of Season 5, but for many fans of the hero shooter, it seems to be more like a filler season than anything else.

While Overwatch 2 Season 5 has a new Battle Pass with some fresh cosmetics to unlock, as well as the Summer Games event on the horizon, it lacks a new map, game mode, or hero, making it feel less substantial when compared to some of the game's previous seasons. Overwatch 2 Season 6 is looking to be a massive upgrade from Season 5, though, as the new season will see the addition of a brand-new game mode, new hero, and more.

Blizzard is mostly keeping the new Overwatch 2 hero a secret for now, but there have been some teases about what they might bring to the table. Most recently, Keller shared a new piece of art hinting at the new Overwatch 2 Support hero's backstory. The art depicts her in the center of a strange machine, presumably the source of her powers, whatever they may be. A full reveal for the next Overwatch 2 hero is promised to come before the Season 6 update, so fans will have to stay tuned for more information on that front.

In the meantime, Keller also shared a hand-drawn image of what fans can expect from the Flashpoint game mode in Overwatch 2. The image won't be completely representative of the Flashpoint map Suravasa, but should still give fans a general idea of what to expect from the map and game mode. As explained by Keller, Flashpoint has two spawn points for each team and five objectives. The central point will always be the first active point in a match, with the other points presumably chosen at random. The basic concept seems to be applying the Overwatch 2 gameplay loop to a bigger map, and it will be interesting to see how the community responds to it come Season 6.

Of course, the other big thing to look forward to in Season 6 is the introduction of Overwatch 2's PvE story missions. The decision to block the Overwatch 2 story missions behind a paywall has kicked up quite a bit of controversy, but if the missions are of particularly high quality, fans may be more forgiving.

Overwatch 2 is in early access on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
