Overwatch 2 might be working on introducing new types of Mythic cosmetics besides skins. While Overwatch 2 hasn’t confirmed anything yet, a recent interview response seemed to suggest these customizations were a distinct possibility.

Mythic skins are a type of Overwatch 2 collectible introduced through the game's seasonal format. These premium cosmetics feature a number of customizable options, allowing players to personalize the skin to their own preference. So far, each Overwatch 2 season has offered a new Mythic skin at the end of its corresponding Premium Battle Pass.

A creative Overwatch 2 fan shares an incredible idea for a Lucio Mythic skin that would give the support hero a whole new level of style.

However, Overwatch 2 might be considering adding the Mythic tier to other types of cosmetics. During a recent interview with Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller, Flats, a popular OW2 Twitch streamer, asked about the possibility of Mythic Highlight Intros, Emotes, or other cosmetics. Keller couldn't say much in response, but his answer was telling. The director interjected, finally saying, “What can I say about this? You know what, I guess I’m just not going to say no. How about that?” This avoidant answer seems to suggest Overwatch 2 may already have something in development.

Overwatch 2 Might Add Other Mythic Cosmetics

While fans should temper their expectations until something official is revealed, the idea of other types of Mythic cosmetics is intriguing. Highlight Intros, Emotes, or even Overwatch 2's new Weapon skins have a lot of potential customization options, and could open the floodgates on player personalization. It is hard to say exactly how these would look, or how fans would obtain them, but the fact that Overwatch 2 players could find out in the future is exciting.

Needless to say, fans are interested about the prospect of these new types of cosmetics. Mythic skins have been a popular addition to the sequel shooter, and though some of them have received criticism for a lack of options, Ancient Caller Moira from Overwatch 2 Season 9 fixed this problem, giving players renewed hope for new types of premium tier of cosmetics.

“What can I say about this? You know what, I guess I’m just not going to say no. How about that?”

It is possible Overwatch 2’s new Mythic Shop could be the source for these unconfirmed new customizations. Through this new store, players can spend Mythic Prisms – purportedly purchased directly or obtained via the Battle Pass – to unlock some or all parts of Mythic skins, including ones from previous seasons. It would not be hard to imagine Mythic Weapon skins, Highlight Intros, or other types of cosmetics eventually making their way to this new feature after Overwatch 2 adds it in Season 10.
