The Top 500 Overwatch 2 Twitch streamer harbleu and his chat witnessed a painfully slow battle between Moira players yesterday in a Top 500 lobby, no less. Moira has received a lot of criticism from players due to her relatively high and consistent damage output considering her status as a support character in Overwatch 2, but seeing Moira duels such as this is almost unheard of in high-level competitive matches.
As a result of Moira's infamous ability to deal fairly high damage with little required aim, the hero has become something of a meme within the Overwatch 2 fanbase, even before the new game's launch. The tendency of Moira players not to heal their teammates and attack enemy players instead is an issue that players have faced since the character was first introduced in the first Overwatch, though many consider the influx of new players who are still learning the ropes to be the reason that skillful Moira players are in short supply at the moment.
During harbleu's stream yesterday in a continued journey to climb to Top 10 in the region, the streamer came across the duel of the DPS Moiras during a match of Push while spectating his teammates following a death. Harbleu's cycle of facial expressions perfectly convey his reaction to the unusual play, as his team's Moira and the enemy team's Moira stand next to each other within a small alleyway, continually draining each other of health while healing orbs bounce between them, perpetuating the cycle by ensuring that each player is being constantly healed.
Though at this point harbleu had respawned as the tank hero Wrecking Ball, a replay of the Overwatch 2 match on the new map later revealed the battle in full, with the Moiras throwing out damage orbs in a desperate attempt to kill the other. The players were so committed to the fight that they each went as far as to unleash their Ultimate abilities, Coalescence, in nearly perfect sync. The streamer wasn't interested in respecting the 1v1 however, instead opting to roll into the fray and use Piledriver to squash the enemy Moira.
Fans in the stream's chat found the entire situation hilarious, with the duel of the Moiras being clipped by several fans and the extended clip reaching more than 36,000 views in just one day. While Moira has not been announced to receive any sort of changes with Overwatch 2's upcoming balance patch, it is perhaps unsurprising that some members of the community are calling for some tweaks to Moira's damage output to better incentivize her powerful healing abilities and reduce the popularity of the infamous DPS Moira playstyle.
