Amounting to one of the best Junkertown plays, an Overwatch 2 player has clipped a moment that highlights their impressive Mercy back cap. The original release of Blizzard's Overwatch has seen countless excellent strategies implemented across the initial maps, but Junkertown continues to be in the spotlight by being retained in the current Overwatch 2 map rotation.

A Reddit user has garnered 1,300 upvotes on an upload that shows them patiently waiting by the final stretch of Junkertown before back capping at the most ideal time. Though it wasn't part of the first set of Overwatch maps, Junkertown was added to the first game through one of the regular updates that have kept the hero shooter popular for most of its lifespan.

Reddit user Z_Queen_Of_Cupcakes recently shared a brief video in which they're floating in a corner behind the enemy forces as Mercy on Overwatch 2's Junkertown. The Mercy heals a nearby Roadhog and resurrects a Soldier 76 that is quick to die again to the full squad of opponents that are grouped up on the payload in an attempt to prevent it from moving any further. As the Mercy slowly falls back to the ground due to the depletion of their Valkyrie ultimate ability, they move to the opposite side of the payload's final stop as the two enemies that were standing on that side serendipitously move forward with their squad.

The Overwatch 2 Mercy patiently waits near the opposing team's spawn room as they slightly nudge the payload backward before pushing the few players trying to catch up with the lone Mercy. Realizing that they're near the payload with no enemies in sight, Z_Queen_Of_Cupcakes walks up to the glowing circle on the ground and pushes the object the remaining few meters to get the win for their team. As they stood on the payload for the final moments of their clip, Z_Queen_Of_Cupcakes can see the red outlines of the few nearby enemies filing into the shortcut between the two checkpoints who are powerless to return in time to prevent the back cap.

Because Z_Queen_Of_Cupcakes' clip concludes before the end of the Overwatch 2 Junkertown match, it's currently unclear if their team was able to achieve overall victory thanks to this back cap. Given the competitive nature of the gameplay in their video, Z_Queen_Of_Cupcakes highlights just how much strategy goes into some Overwatch 2 matches even outside of official Overwatch League games.

Overwatch 2 is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
