An important aspect of any video game’s main menu looks to be absent from the one in Overwatch 2. Overwatch 2 came out a few days to a generally favorable critical reception, although the aggregate is significantly lower than the review scores of the original Overwatch. Since its release, fans have been facing several issues with Overwatch 2, ranging from technical problems to troubles with some of its design decisions.

One Overwatch 2 player pointed out an issue with the game’s UI, as its menu options appear to be uneven. The image in this post shows an irregularity between the white and light blue tiles of the game’s menu. After noticing this detail, many players mentioned that they cannot unsee it, and some expressed shock at it passing QA testing. It looks like uneven tiles are not the only problem with Overwatch 2’s menus.

A Reddit user named bilawalm points out that Overwatch 2 does not have an “Options” menu as a part of its main menu. As seen in the image, the menus named Play, Heroes, Shop, and Battle Pass are highlighted in big bold letters. Players can find three other options under them titled Social, Career Profile, and Challenges. However, a proper options menu is nowhere to be seen as a part of the main list. An options menu allows users to change various aspects of a game including the graphics settings, controls, and audio levels, in addition to elements like colorblind mode.

Of course, Overwatch 2 has not been released without a proper settings menu, and players can simply press the escape key to access it. In that case, this post is perhaps aimed at criticizing the overall layout of the main menu of Overwatch 2. Many users mention that the menu focuses too much on the monetization aspect of Overwatch 2, with a few of them claiming to have never clicked on either shop or battle pass. Fans also think that the font for the battle pass menu is way too big.

Several other users took this opportunity to share their own issues with Overwatch 2’s UI and menus. Many point to some counter-intuitive elements, such as the escape key not exiting the endorsement screen since pressing it opens the actual options menu. In general, players seem disappointed with the way Blizzard monetized Overwatch 2 and list it as the root cause for the various issues with the game on launch.

Overwatch 2 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
