Overwatch 2 is going to be releasing a new buff for Tank hero Junker Queen at some point in the near future. Overwatch 2 introduced Junker Queen as part of the game's early access launch, and while she proved popular at first, she has since fallen out of favor with players. While many enjoy Junker Queen as a character and have praised her kit, there's no denying that she's one of the weaker Tanks on the roster right now.

Fans have been calling for Overwatch 2 to buff Junker Queen for quite some time. Many were disappointed when the latest Overwatch 2 hero balance update didn't include any Junker Queen buffs, but it seems fans won't have to wait all that much longer for the Tank hero's shortcomings to be addressed.

In a recent stream with Emongg, Blizzard's Alec Dawson teased fans with some changes that are on the way for Junker Queen. Dawson did not provide specifics on what these Junker Queen changes will entail, but he did describe them as "really spicy" and said that Junker Queen has a "few more buffs" in store. The Junker Queen buffs are expected to come "mid-season," but an exact date is unavailable at the time of this writing.

It's possible that the Overwatch 2 Junker Queen buffs could come with the January update that's supposedly on the way. Blizzard has teased that not only could Junker Queen buffs be coming with the January update, but that fellow Tank hero Roadhog will be getting nerfed. Dawson went as far as to describe the Roadhog nerfs as a "soft rework" of the character, which will likely be well-received by those who are frustrated by Roadhog but be met with disappointment by those who main the character.

It's quite likely that a January update for Overwatch 2 will also include the start of the Lunar New Year event. While it has sometimes started as late as February, Overwatch has traditionally started its Lunar New Year event in January each year. This event is marked by a renewed focus on the Capture the Flag game mode and season-appropriate cosmetics. The next event is expected to be the Year of the Rabbit, so it's likely that fans can look forward to rabbit-themed cosmetics and skins for various characters on the roster.

Before the Lunar New Year and Junker Queen buffs arrive in Overwatch 2, players can check out how the latest hero balance changes have impacted the game and dive into the Winter Wonderland event, available now for a limited time.

Overwatch 2 is available now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
