With the loot box system being replaced by a Battle Pass and premium currency, Overwatch 2 conversations are going to revolve heavily around the daily, weekly, seasonal, and lifetime challenges. Getting more points never hurts, whether the reward is a new skin or a hero.
One of these weekly challenges is called 'Role Mastery.' Overwatch 2 will throw this one out there from time to time. The wording is a bit tricky, so this brief guide is an overview of how to find it, what it is, and how to complete the challenge once it is done.
Checking The Role Mastery Challenge
- Challenges > Weekly
- Win 10 games each as 2 different roles in Quick Play or Competitive Play.
Challenges can be viewed either from the main menu under the 'Challenges" button or by clicking on the orange medal icon by the username and friend menu in the upper right. From here, click the 'Weekly' tab and scroll down to find the Role Mastery challenge. If players can't see it, then it's not a challenge this week.
To break down the wording, which is a bit confusing, players must complete two of the following three objectives: (1) win 10 games as a tank hero, (2) win ten games as a damage hero, and (3) win 10 games as a support hero. The game does not measure individual games, so keep track of how many won under each category. Remember, this is about wins, not success. Games where the player wipes out the enemy team with D. Va but fail to win the game won't count.
Tips For Completion
Although an open queue might be a preferred way to play, to get this challenge, it's best to select role queue and select only the roles needed for the challenge. If players have all their support games won but need three more tank wins or seven more damage wins, role queue as a tank tow in this challenge quickly.
Don't hold back. These challenges disappear, so select one of the best DPS heroes or the best heroes of another role and maximize the odds of winning. Gamers who play for hours each day will get this done in a few days regardless, but most gamers will need to take these specific measures to knock out the task.
