One of the least discussed things among amateurs in Overwatch 2 is the crosshair. Every character gets one, even if it's just a simple white dot in the center of the screen. Units with recoil and range often get additional layers of complexity with their default crosshair.

But the pros are keen to discuss how the reticle can be altered in Overwatch 2. Although functionally the same, some players just vibe better and have better accuracy with different types of crosshairs. Every gamer should at least know how to change the crosshairs and decide for themselves if the default crosshair is for them.

Changing Crosshairs

Overwatch 2 How To Change Crosshairs
  • Menu > Options > Controls > General > Reticle

This change can be made right after choosing a hero or on the front screen. Open up the menu, click options, then go to the controls tab. On the front page of this general tab, the reticle options are right there. Players are free to make simple design changes or advanced custom design decisions.

Skin designs can be disappointing or useless, but this is something that affects gameplay. It's highly recommended to play around with these options in a practice game against bots or on the practice range. Trying to get things like opacity right in the middle of a match, even a recreational one, is going to result in disaster.

Default may still be preferred for most heroes. Consider that a perfect reticle for Torbjorn and a perfect reticle for Sojourn should probably not look the same. Players should keep a specific character in mind when they design their crosshair, then be ready to change it when ti doesn't make sense for another hero.

For some heroes, this change is more style than function. Ultimately, player preference is king. For others, like those who master Widowmaker, the choice is colossal. Too much fluff on the crosshair and it's hard to spot certain details over long distances. Not enough and players find it tough to calculate bullet drop, target distance, and gun movement.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
