A glitch in Overwatch 2 may be preventing players from unlocking new characters in gameplay. It's not the first time a bug has affected the highly eclectic Overwatch 2 roster.

Since it dropped in early access last year, Overwatch 2 has received mostly favorable feedback, gaining lower review scores than its 2016 predecessor but garnering a larger player base in its first month. It has been praised for its continuation and evolution of the previous game's gameplay, but there's been plenty of criticism as well. Regardless of public opinion, no game is without fault, whether it be in the form of technical issues or bugs that flew under the radar during playtesting.

Redditor Shaman1996 pointed out this glitch, explaining how it was preventing them from unlocking the Season 2 character Ramattra. Ramattra is locked behind a series of challenges, including 35 victories while playing as Tank (or a randomly chosen hero), killing three bots with the Void Accelerator, and practicing various moves in the training mode. The user had clearly beaten most of these challenges, but the game would not mark the former as finished despite them being multiple victories above the minimum threshold.

When asked whether or not this glitch was a common occurrence, one commenter noted they had similar difficulty unlocking Season 1 character Kiriko. Many others in the comments were quick to blame Blizzard for the bug, advising the OP to send in a ticket to signify their complaint. A good chunk of replies suggested that Ramattra was inaccessible merely because his grinding challenge had not been activated, which is the only way to mark them as completed.

Progression gating is seldom fun in video games, and it can be particularly frustrating whenever it comes in the form of a glitch. Assuming this is an actual glitch and not a mistake on the user's part, then it marks one of several that Overwatch 2 players have experienced.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
