There's no question that skins are a big part of Overwatch 2 in the eyes of many players, and fans can now get their hands on a Legendary Tracer skin for free until June 27th. Though the game has boasted tons of new cosmetic content since the sequel launched late last year, the new shop system in Overwatch 2 has offered players very few opportunities to get their hands on new skins for free.Originally, Overwatch used loot boxes to dish out cosmetics in a somewhat randomized manner. These items worked mostly the same way as they do in other games, and while they could be purchased in large amounts with real money, players also had the option of earning them exclusively through gameplay. Unfortunately though, no such opportunity still exists in Overwatch 2, with the sequel implementing a whole new shop mechanic which saw the loot box system abandoned entirely. Overwatch 2's status as a free-to-play game opens its doors to just about anyone, though the consequences of the free-to-play formula inevitably result in a much greater focus on monetizing cosmetic content.RELATED: Overwatch 2 Ult Changes Could Be on the WayThe high prices attached to Overwatch 2's cosmetics and the few methods of obtaining them outside of spending money present some of the biggest criticisms of the game, and have persisted since it was first released. That said, Season 5 of Overwatch 2 has made a number of big changes to the game, and fans can celebrate the beginning of the recently-launched season by grabbing the Legendary Sprinter Tracer skin from the shop for the low price of 0 coins. The opportunity to claim a free skin is a rare one in Overwatch 2, but fans will have to be quick if they want to grab it, as the deal is only available in the shop until June 27th.

Claiming the skin can be done simply be accessing the shop from the game's main menu and scrolling down to where the Sprinter Tracer skin can be found. The skin will show a cost of 0 Overwatch Coins to purchase, so from there it's simply a matter of selecting the item and hitting "purchase." More free rewards will become available in the Overwatch 2 shop once the selection rotates after June 27th, and players will be able to get their hands on the Valkyrie Wings weapon charm next.

The release of a new season in Overwatch 2 also heralds the arrival of a new season pass, which offers a new variety of themed cosmetics available until the end of the season. While most of these items are available only on the paid, premium track of the Season 5 battle pass, including the new Mythic Adventurer Tracer skin, some of the new goodies can be earned at no additional cost through regular gameplay by progressing through the levels on the season pass.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
