Tuesday, July 9 is set to be a particularly big and exciting day for fans of Blizzard's hero shooter Overwatch 2. Overwatch 2 just recently launched Season 11, which brought with it some notable hero balance tweaks, a fresh battle pass, and the debut of a brand-new Push map.

Overwatch 2 fans can look forward to additional new content and special events throughout Season 11. Notably, the Pink Mercy skin is back in Overwatch 2 for a limited time, alongside a new Rose Gold Mercy bundle, with 100% of proceedings going towards breast cancer research. Season 11 will play host to more events in the future, with two of them going live on the very same day.

Overwatch 2 confirms Reinhardt and Winston, two of the game's original tanks, will receive some much-needed buffs in the near future.

On Tuesday, July 9, Overwatch 2 players can look forward to the game's Transformers crossover as well as the start of the annual Summer Games event. Specifics on what exactly these two events will bring to the table have yet to be revealed by Blizzard, but we can make an educated guess based on past Overwatch events. As far as Transformers goes, the most likely scenario is that the game will add premium cosmetics based on the long-running multimedia franchise, which will include skins for various characters. Summer Games, meanwhile, will bring summer-themed skins back into the shop, along with the Lucioball and Winston Beach Volleyball limited-time game modes.

When Are the Overwatch 2 Transformers and Summer Games Events?

Again, Blizzard has not provided specifics about these events beyond the fact that they're happening, and so Overwatch 2 players will have to hang tight for more information on that front. However, the fact that two Overwatch 2 events are kicking off at the same time, and one of them is a crossover with one of the most popular franchises in the world, should ensure that July 9 is a huge day for the hero shooter regardless.

While Blizzard hasn't revealed any of the Overwatch 2 x Transformers skins yet, one has to imagine that the game's roster of Omnics will be top priority for the collaboration. It wouldn't be surprising to see Transformers skins for characters like Echo, Bastion, Zenyatta, and Ramattra, though Reinhardt's huge stature would make him a likely candidate for such a crossover, too. Ramattra would look great in a Megatron-inspired skin, while it's easy to see Reinhardt pulling off an Optimus Prime look. Bastion would look great as Bumblebee, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Echo get an Arcee-style makeover. Of course, it's entirely possible that the Overwatch 2 x Transformers crossover will include skins for completely unexpected characters, and so fans should keep that in mind.

Luckily, with the Overwatch 2 x Transformers event happening on July 9, fans shouldn't have to wait too much longer to get more information on both that and the Summer Games. As far as the Summer Games goes, fans can at least expect Lucioball and Winston Beach Volleyball to return along with the Summer Games-themed skins, but time will tell if Blizzard has anything else up its sleeve for the annual event.
