A strange Overwatch 2 bug is making people join empty lobbies, players have complained online. The game, which was fully released late last year, has had other weird glitches in the past.

Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch 2 is the sequel to the legendary studio's popular hero shooter from 2016 that was promised to have new PvE elements alongside additional heroes, maps, and modes. Since leaving early access in August, the title has exhibited unfortunate technical issues, with a recently reported bug forcing people to play in empty matches.

Overwatch 2 Fan Spots Bizarre Bug When Gold and Jade Guns Come Too Close to Each Other

An Overwatch 2 fan highlights a bizarre bug that happens when Gold and Jade Guns come too close to each other.

Reddit user PaperMacheteMisfit shared in a post how they were removed from an Overwatch 2 match and put in a lobby that had no other players. PaperMacheteMisfit was still able to talk to their teammates, carry the payload to the objective, and be given a Play of the Game replay after winning, they claimed. Throughout the bizarre match, PaperMacheteMisfit played as Soldier: 76, and their character wore the Mumen Rider skin that was featured in the 2023 collaboration between Overwatch 2 and One Punch Man.

This is not the first time players of Blizzard Entertainment's FPS have run into the kind of glitch PaperMacheteMisfit encountered. An Overwatch 2 player was also placed in an empty game and managed to get a free win right around the time the title fully launched. The player, Reddit user Goku-sann, recorded the eerie match and shared the footage online.

Overwatch 2 Bugs and Glitches

Other technical issues have manifested in Blizzard Entertainment's shooter, including a glitch that stretched the character models of Overwatch 2 heroes in the game's Practice Range map. All a player needed to do to trigger the bug was to walk into a certain lamp and jump. Blizzard Entertainment has been trying to address bugs and glitches through regular game updates, like the one that was released on May 21 that fixed a self-knockback issue involving Zarya.

Blizzard Entertainment's latest shooter is currently on its 10th season, which introduced the new hero, Venture, as well as the Mirrorwatch event, among other things. The next season will go live in June. Overwatch 2 Season 11 will remove the Hero Mastery Gauntlet tower defense mode and bring changes to Cassidy. Lifeweaver, Mercy, and Symmetra may also receive tweaks in the future, the Overwatch 2 team revealed in a recent Reddit AMA.
