An attentive Overwatch 2 player has discovered that D.Va has reduced headshot damage outside her mech. Overwatch 2 has many heroes that are popular with players, including D.Va. The beloved hero is a solid tank pick in Overwatch 2's current meta, offering a good combination of high survivability and damage.

D.Va is one of the heroes from the original Overwatch roster who fights alongside her trusty mech. But while other tanks like Reinhardt, Sigma, and Winston wear powerful armor, D.Va distinguishes herself by having the ability to leave her mech thanks to her passive. Once outside, D.Va can continue the fight by damaging opponents with the Light Gun. D.Va can make surprising plays in Overwatch 2, and carry fights when in the hands of the right player. Now, thanks to a surprising discovery, Overwatch 2 players discovered that D.Va is a little stronger than they anticipated.

In a surprising twist, Reddit user ddaammaaii discovered that D.Va outside her mech has reduced headshot damage. The player used Overwatch 2's Practice Range to make a comparison between D.Va and Tracer, two Overwatch 2 characters with the same health (175). They discover that while Tracer is killed after five headshots, D.Va takes seven headshots to die, thanks to inheriting the tanks' headshot damage reduction when not using outside her mech.

Overwatch 2 Tanks Got Several Tweaks This Year

With the release of the May 14 patch, Blizzard made a new round of changes to Overwatch 2 tanks. Now, the tanks' role passive gives a 25% damage reduction against critical headshots, and knockback resistance has been increased from 30% to 50%. According to the devs, the adjustment was made to help reduce the feeling that tanks are taken out too quickly by Overwatch 2 heroes with high burst damage. This year, tanks got other important changes, such as the 50 HP boost, and the much-talked-about addition of the self-healing passive in Overwatch 2. With it, Blizzard allowed tank mains to be more self-sufficient and less dependent on their support.

While it's unknown whether the headshot damage reduction outside the mech is an intentional design choice, this isn't the first time Overwatch 2 players have discovered that D.Va keeps buffs inside or outside the mech. In the comments, one Overwatch 2 player noted that D.Va also keeps the knockback effect outside the mech. With the Overwatch 2 x Porsche crossover underway, this may be a good time for Overwatch 2 players to test D.Va's potential while securing the hero's latest skin.
