An Overwatch 2 player makes an unlucky play that causes them to unintentionally eliminate their teammate while playing as Doomfist. While Overwatch 2 has been out for around half a year, many players continue to make intriguing discoveries about how the game plays. Unfortunately, for one gamer, they learned the hard way that Doomfist’s gauntlet is sometimes too powerful for its own good.

Doomfist is one of the characters that received a substantial rework in the transition to Overwatch 2. Blizzard changed the role of Doomfist from a DPS to a tank, giving the hero more health and several altered abilities. Nevertheless, he still comes equipped with his massive gauntlet, which allows him to send enemies flying across the map.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as OliTheOK shared a strange play they pulled off while playing as Wrecking Ball in Overwatch 2. This highlight took place on the Toronto Push map and showed how a Doomfist player brought about the accidental demise of one of their teammates. The action began with Wrecking Ball dropping his Minefield Ultimate near the payload. However, what happened next was quite perplexing, to say the least.

Looking to cause more mayhem near the objective, Wrecking Ball rolled toward a group of enemies. Anticipating the moves, a Doomfist player on the other team managed to connect a Rocket Punch on the annoying tank. While this saved Doomfist and his nearby teammate from damage, their allied Reaper was not as fortunate. Interestingly, the knockback from the Rocket Punch gave the Wrecking Ball player enough of a speed boost that when they collided with Reaper, the impact killed him. As a result, Doomfist accidentally caused the death of their teammate in a play not dissimilar to ping pong.

This bizarre play of the game caught the attention of numerous Overwatch 2 gamers, with over 5.1K upvoting the Reddit post. Among the comments, many said they were unaware that Wrecking Ball could receive a large enough speed boost from Doomfist’s Rocket Punch to allow them to do damage without activating their Grapple. Interestingly, another gamer pointed out that Pharah’s Concussive Blast in Overwatch 2 worked similarly. In addition, one user humorously suggested a new game mode where Doomfist players must knock Wreck Balls into other players.

While this Doomfist clip is doubtlessly notable, it is not the only strange occurrence captured by fans recently. For example, one gamer discovered a strange wall on the King’s Row map that fails to protect players from D.Va’s Self-Destruct. As Blizzard adds new content to Overwatch 2, it seems likely that fans will continue to make more unusual discoveries about the various maps and characters in the team-based hero shooter.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
